Talking about wanting to sign Ilyasova. What about skipping him and trying to sign Bertans from the Spurs. A Shooting big that fits our timeline? would love having player like that coming of the bench.

from what i've heard, he would be looking for around 5 mil per.

US Sports betting ban overturned in Supreme Court. It could have salary cap implications in the near future considering Silver has been trying to get some of the betting money diverted to the NBA. All I know is that the owners better not let the cap explode again.

Would be perfect timing for the Suns since we got the cap space. Might as well max out Gordon, Capela, and uh... whoever else is left. A lot of other teams are still dealing with their last fiasco of signing mediocre players to ridiculous contracts. We need to jump on that boat!

If you look at the non-All Stars who were given $12m+ contracts in the past 4 seasons you could argue most were bad decisions.

I doubt it'll effect the salary cap for next season. The NBA still has to negotiate its share of gambling money, and I don't think the amount of money coming in will be predictable enough to project on the salary cap with nation-wide gambling being a new stream of money. I'm just hoping that they ease that new money in. We don't need another KD to the Warriors situation where a historic team is able to bring a max player in on cap space because the salary cap spiked.

It seems the. I ran the numbers on the potential take for the NBA from Sports Betting that the numbers weren't that big. Roughly $1M per team if I remember. It's been a while, but I think it was supposed to be 1% off of $3B per year when Silver was discussing it. Also, I'm not sure that it would be part of BRI (Bball Related Income) which is the type of income that gets split. It's been a while, but that's my recollection.

Chandler, Dudley, Pick 16, Chriss
For
Drummond

Suns then use Pick 3 or 4 for JJJ

Suns sign Redick to a 2 year 40 million contract

Suns run
G: Redick
G: Booker
F: Jackson
F: Jackson Jr
C: Drummond

Knight, Harrison and Ulis rotate behind Redick
Reed and Daniels behind Booker
And Warren behind Jackson

Bender and Williams behind Jackson Jr and Drummond

Why trade Chriss? We need 4 bigs. Even if we like Bender and add Drummond, he has more value to us than he would to Detroit, is only 20, and has played well in stretches. He was always a project but has shown he can protect the rim in spurts and has enough touch to develop into a 3 point shooter. He shouldn't be a part of these trades, particularly for a 5.

Watching the Warriors and Celtics build their teams...

Only way to beat them down the line is to have 4 players on the court who can create their own shots inside and out.... can switch and be comfortable guarding 1 to 4.

My crazy, unrealistic but optimistic plan...

Spurs / Suns
Spurs are not going to trade with a team they think will be a threat to them immediately, so the Suns offering their 2018 Pick, Bucks 2019 pick and even Suns 2020 Pick... may make Spurs think Suns are "safe" to trade with and dump Kawhi Leonard, but they also have to absorb Chandler who they may feel like someone who can contribute next season.

Let's assume the 2018 pick is top 2 and ended up Doncic... so its Doncic, Bucks Pick and Suns 2020 Pick and Chandler's expiring for Kawhi Leonard, assuming Kawhi is willing to extend and is healthy (passes physical)

Free Agent signing (after Suns relinquishes a few contracts and trades Warren for Clipper's Pick 13, Anfernee Simmons)
They convinced Paul George to join Booker, Jackson and Kawhi in their hope of challenging the Rockets and Warriors in the next few seasons.
George signs a 4 year 120 Million contract, with incentives built in.

Suns then have...

Starting 5 of...
G/F 6'6 Booker
G/F 6'9 George
G/F 6'7 Leonard
G/F 6'8 Jackson
F/C 7'1 Bender

Bench
F/C 6'9 Chriss
G 6'3 Knight
G/F 6'5 Reed
C 7'1 Robinson (Pick 16)
G/F 6'7 House
G 6'3 Simmons (Pick 13)
G 6'2 Harrison

Now the team has 4 players who can score inside and outside... pass... switch to anyone against Warriors, who's most troublesome player to guard is Durant... now Suns have 3 good defenders to throw at him in the staring lineup alone.

Crazy!

Just did this in NBA 2K18... minus the rookies and a couple of other bench players obviously and I'm killing it in simulation mode lol

That would be a hell of an offseason. Though I don't even know if that's enough to beat Golden State. Booker might struggle to get his shots too.

He’s angling for the Pacers/Bucks...apparently wants to be on a playoff team

Dennis Schroder revealed he could see himself being traded to the Indiana Pacers or Milwaukee Bucks.

"I will talk to the general manager and owner of the (Hawks) and we will talk about the organization and what they want to do in the future," said Schroder. "My agent will also be there and he will talk to them tomorrow and Wednesday to see how it continues on."

The Hawks began to rebuild this past offseason.

Schroder said he "cannot be second to last in the Eastern Conference" during the prime of his playing career.

Schroder is owed $46.5 million over the next three seasons.

That's a guy I hope we steer clear of.

I have to imagine Schroder ending up in Indiana would make Cory Joseph more available, who I really like as a target for this team with no good PGs. Though I suppose it’s also likely he would be outgoing in a Schroder deal too, meh.

Schroder is a below average starter in this league who obviously thinks too highly of himself. He’s also been known as a terrible locker room presence and has a low basketball IQ. Demanding to be traded to a playoff team is another huge red flag for a guy who has proven nothing. I want no part of him.

Schroeder played fairly well in the playoffs against John Wall last year. He’s a good 4th banana, and I wouldn’t mind trading for him if all it took was Knight and the 16th pick.
