I thought you said earlier that we are taking Doncic no matter where we land? Are you just taking Gambo's word at face value? They certainly haven't decided for sure who they are picking yet.

Gambo is usually spot on when it comes to Suns info. James Jones said Igor will not be making the decision, only coaching the talent.

Luka is still the best basketball player in the draft, and the offensive firepower would be ridiculous. Score Clint Capela or DCuz in the free agency and you have one heck of a squad.
Also notable would be the size of this lineup, with a perimeter of 6'8, 67', and 6'8. If JJ can guard the 1, Luka can slide down to take the 3, where he fares far better on defense.

Not saying I don't fully understand the appeal of Ayton. He has the perfect NBA body and a shooting stroke to boot. Ayton can become a premiere offensive threat inside and out, and will likely be a great rebounder, but I question his motor and performance on defense. ...And if we aren't getting a defensive stalwart shouldn't we at least get a facilitator?
I'm very much torn here, and while my head goes with Ayton, my heart is definitely hoping for Luka to be our guy.

Is he? Is he really? I'm not that close since I'm not from the area but based on the comments here, he seems *really* hit and miss. Hits are really spot on but the misses are just wayyyy off

I don't think there is any chance that the Suns pass on a guy who is from their own backyard that has a chance to really shore up the C position for the 1st time in a 100 years.

I'll be ok with whom ever they decide to pick, but c'mon, you got to pick Luka.

Please no, without a guarantee that he wants to stay here

You keep #1 and trade the plethora of picks and young assets for him instead.

That asset would be Jackson then. They won't deal their star for nothing less than one of Jackson or the pick IMO.

Seeing as they don't have a pick next year, I doubt they will move it. They need to get this right.

We could offer them multiple picks next year, along with #16 and a salary dump of ZBO for Dudley.

Dudley/Chriss/#16/2019 1st/2019 Bucks 1st for #2/ZBO

Sheeeeeeeeeeet, i'd go higher and offer up our 2021 pick as well (We will still own the Heats pick in 2021).

Hayward is a GREAT athlete.
Comparing Luka to him and then saying 'marginal speed, average lateral quickness' is completely absurd.

From something you are hearing right now or just from before when he talked about how many good bigs in this draft. McD doesn't really show his cards though.

He explicitly said this is not his opinion, it comes from the FO. His best sources are in the Suns and Dbacks organizations. He does say stupid stuff and is pretty stupid in general, but his sources are legit.

I think both Luka and Ayton will have a huge impact on our offense. The question is, who could have a bigger impact on our defense? The answer for me is Ayton.

I don't think we can make a draft decision based on possible free agents. Too many factors contribute to free agency and where a player goes. Draft who has the potential to have the most impact on your team as constructed.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Oh ya I think you have to deal him in that scenario if you're acquiring Leonard. As much as I like him.

No, Gambo knows nothing. I mean saying we will take Ayton is obviously a pretty easy take since there is probably a better than 50/50 chance we do, but he is the last guy who would know. Have you heard him interview McD?

I think someone reported his sources were from other teams.

The only thing that wouldn't surprise me if he knows something is if Sarver, being a UA guy loves Ayton and has told him something. McD is very generic talking to anyone and no one has ever accurately predicted anything he's done that can't be construed as an educated or random guess (like our draft pick).

Tomorrow I'll post the analysis videos on the 2 players.

A 6'8" point guard who''s a winner is my pick over a center who relies on his athleticism and lacks defensive instincts.

Imagine a motion offense with a 6'8" Steve Nash, Booker, and Jackson.

I have the feeling that McDonough is gonna draft Doncic #1.

I think Doncic will be the better defender relative to his position, even though Ayton might have the bigger overall defensive contribution. As a concept: would rather have a +1 defender on the wing than +2 defender as a center, if having that +2 center would take out the possibility of having a +4 defensive center on the floor.

These are obviously made up numbers.
