Trading up for Ayton or Doncic?

Post#1 » by atlantabbq99 » Wed May 16, 2018 4:16 am

Should the Hawks make a Markelle Fultz type of trade to move up 1-2 spots to get Ayton or Doncic?

Trade assets: 2019 draft pick, Dennis Schroder, Taurean Prince, #19 pick.

I say YES!

#3 and 2019 draft pick... I'm not a fan of the 2019 draft class, I think it will be one of the weakest draft class in the last decade. I think the top picks will be just as bad as the Anthony Bennett, Oladipo, Porter, Zeller, Len, Noel, McLemore draft class (or 2006 draft class). I'm not a fan of RJ Barrett, he reminds me of Jeremy Lamb in both talent and premature hype.

#3 and Dennis Schroder... I am a big fan of Schroder, but this could be a sacrifice worth taking to move up 1-2 spots. Hawks draft Ayton and then use #19 to get Khyri Thomas as the PG of the future. Ayton and Khyri could be a better version of Billups/Rasheed

#3, #19 and cash... I'm not sure if the Suns or Kings would take it, but it would be worth putting it out on the table. I know Suns fans hate it that their owner would sell picks in the past, but maybe just put it out their as an offer.

Way too much for my liking. I kind of like our spot. Teams should be contacting us for our spot though thats for sure. I’d like to get 2 top 10 picks this year but not necessarily get the 1st or 2nd pick.

It's going to cost too much. The dropoff from Doncic to anyone else in the draft is significant and Ayton has the least career risk as no GM is going to get fired immediately for taking Ayton #1 or #2.

You guys drew the short straw this year

That would be the best, but it’s hard too see how any team will fall that much in love with Bagley/JJJ/Bamba. 3-6 or even 7 looks pretty much the same. Maybe if somebody looks incredible in workouts, but then probably the Hawks would like to take him too. Maybe some kind of a trade with some playoffs team is more likely.

Possibly try not focusing on our straw and more on the Rockets return to sharing the ball. Don’t let the Warriors throw you off your game!

Now, go on, regroup and let’s try this again.

We are 5 weeks away from the draft so a lot could happen as far as team falling in love with prospects. We hold a lot of cards right now as far as our positioning in this draft. No other team has 3 first round picks I think. So we are hanging onto some valuable assets for sure.

Some opportunities will arise during the draft that might help us involving both playoff and non playoff teams. We just have to stay patient.

I say just keep it simple and pick Marvin. Ayton is supposed to have attitude issues, and Doncic just doesn't have the foot speed. I've watched a bunch of Real this year, and he's getting so much of his productivity off of attacking closeouts in a way he's just not gonna be able to in the NBA. Bagley's motor and physical gifts just scream sure thing to me. Worst case, he's a 6'11" Marcus Smart. Just all insane athleticism and flailing effort, which would actually be pretty great...

I'd rather look to trade down a few spots than trade up. It would probably cost too much to move into either 1 or 2.

If push comes to shove, I'd be fine staying at 3 and taking Bagley. I was against the idea months ago but that was before this rebuild was set back by a couple years.

Offer #1: Two top 10 firsts (likely top 5) to move up 1 spot? I likely pass.

#2: That deal doesn't move us up. Dennis doesn't have that value around the league.

#3: Suns aren't moving out of 1.

I likely pass on moving up (the cost is too high). Take BPA (Bagley or JJJ) and see where that leads.

It is basically like Cleveland in 2012 trading Dion Waiters and their unprotected 2013 pick (Anthony Bennett) to move up to get Anthony Davis. I would be MORE than willing and happy to trade two top 10 picks for a big like Anthony Davis or Ayton

Except AD was a consensus top franchise changer. I don't feel that with this group of players enough to give up what we'll have to.

Gonna have to disagree hard on this. There's a dropoff, but it's after Bagley, not Doncic.

No. Take Bagley and try to trade back into the top 10 for Trae Young.

Let the draft come, take the best player. unless someone gets stupid. I'm pretty set on Bagley being the shiney, new Hawk

Is quantity better than quality at this juncture?

Why does Bagley remind me of a talent the level of Jabari Parker? I sure don’t want another Marvin with this one.

My 1st question: can you get Lillard or C.J. out of Portland? I don’t think Kawhai is an option anymore.

Hard seeing Bagley and Collins on this roster together.

Are you talking Lillard or CJ for pick #3? No way, Hawks aren't rushing the rebuild. Those are win now pieces, Hawks aren't close to winning anything, let alone making the playoffs to warrant trading our pick for either.

Bagley is a Phoenix native and grew up cheering for the Sun. Hawks on draft night could always offer Bagley and Schroder for Ayton, which solves PHX's biggest hole at PG and still gives them a high prospect who is a hometown kid.

I am stoked we got #3 as well. Bagley is going to be a no brainer and as bad as the Kings need a big this will be pretty much King like for them to pass on him.
