Ayton
Luka
JJJ
Bagley
MPJ
Bamba

Assuming all of these guys are off the board by the 7th pick, who do you want?

I think it comes down to Carter vs Mikal. I'm hoping for Mikal or a Bamba drop.

it's really, really hard to pass on a guy who can shoot, distribute and run the pick and roll. i'm not confident that young translates to the nba but if he does, he ticks the most important boxes

I think MPJ will disappoint in workouts and we'll end-up with him. Hoping not, but who knows.

He may dissapoint other teams, by not playing hard, diliberately

His workout for Bulls will be incredible though, I'm sure of it.

I've gone Wendell: fits a need, good floor, considerable upside, fits the modern game, gives full season to Dunn/LaVine; there are much more enticing wings late in 1st than bigs

I'm afraid you might be right... however, if he disappoints in workouts for the Bulls, I'm not so sure Paxson signs off on drafting him strictly based in his prep ranking. Which, btw is based on play from two years ago against high school kids and an under 17 elite prep league. I'm with you though, I'm going on record as being vehemently against gambling on Porter with Mikal and Carter on the board. Hell, I'm not really crazy about Trae Young, but I would even take him over MPJ. MPJ is just screaming bust to me based on everything I've seen and the fact he just had microdisectomy for a herniated disc as a teenager. It is rare to have those kind of back issues that young and not be affected. I would run the other way, away from that pick.

Maybe he proves me wrong.. If the Bulls take him, I sure hope he does. I do have a good deal of confidence in Paxson as a drafter. Not so much in Gar. It seems Pax has taken the reins of the team back somewhat so I hope he is taking charge of this pick and not leaving it to Gar.

and you know this how? Unless the Bulls blindly make him a promise, before workouts, which they would be complete and utter idiots if they did. THAT is just not happening.

Carter can't defend dribble penetration, so I pass on him.

With Young, there are just too many question marks on whether his effectiveness will translate, and whether he can learn to play passable defense. Plus he is completely incompatible with both Dunn and LaVine. Young is not good enough to justify a complete change of approach. I'd rather take my chances with Dunn and/or LaVine addressing their weaknesses and developing into stars.

I love Mikal - two way player who will make our team significant better from day one. I can clearly see him as a valuable starter on a championship team, and he is a perfect fit between LaVine and Lauri.

Bridges (or I guess Carter) really need to show out in their combine measurements and workouts for me to get on board with either over Trae.

Trae showed an elite ability to shoot and create. The two most important skills in the game. I'm not overly in love with either of our backcourt "solutions" at the moment, so in addition to 2 way wings, an offensive creator is our #1 need.

Bridges needs to show true high impact 2 way wing potential and measurements (Jaylen Brown level, lets say). He disappeared way too often on Nova and looked like just a spot up shooter at most times in that offense.

Carter - I just can't get on board using our pick on a 6'10'' center only projected prospect with no shooting range, no play making ability, and doesn't have the elite game changer level defensive projection measurements. Sure if he turns out to be Horford that'd be great. But talk about low upside/value pick right off the gate.

As of 5/16/18 between those 3 its: 1) Trae *gap* 2) Bridges *bigger gap* 3) Carter

Of those three...

Bridges
Carter
Young

and I would even consider Knox, Miles Bridges, and Sexton over Young depending on how they fair at the combine.

Young. Not sold on him in the slightest but I just think he has a sky high ceiling.

i don't know why you'd say carter has no shooting range. he shot 41% from three (on an admittedly small volume) and had a solid enough ft% that his shot seems developable

he might not be projected as a game-changer but he's got good, dynamic defensive capabilities, too. a center who is a solid rim protector and solid lateral defender might be more valuabe than a guy who's an elite rim protector but can't handle switches

At #7, between the three, I'd risk it and go for Young. Bridges and Carter are safe picks. Worst case scenario you get a productive role player with those two guys. Trae Young is a risk. Huge risk. A risk if the Bulls take and it pans out, it might set themselves up for the next decade. Leading the NCAA in scoring and assists is no joke. At the very least, they'll get a playmaking PG who can shoot lights out.

Mikal
Carter

Young

The best scenario is to trade down to either Cleveland or NY, let them take Young, and we still get Carter or Mikal plus a future first.

Young - I think he projects to be more like Mahmoud Abdul-rauf than Curry. He struggled in the later half of the season but he was Oklahoma’s only decent player so teams like Rhode Island in the tourney were focused on trying to shut him down and he still managed to put up 28, 7, 5. Dunn is long enough to guard the 2, and in the pace and space offense of hoiball, he’ll put up some great stats. Those stats may not translate to wins as his defense may not be the greatest, but we should tank again next year anyway.

From this trio I went with one with most upside. If he is there and it works out we have 3pt PnR core for next 15 years. I am sure Hoiberg wants his Nash.
