The Grizzles are the Wildcard at the 4th pick, What if they take Porter? Oh that means Jaren Jackson Jr has fallen to us
- What if the Grizzles take JJJ? OH MAN PORTER IS AVAILABLE AT 6, We can't pass on Porter if he becomes available at our 6th pick, I don't care how many people have a crush on Trae Young or want him, Can't pass on Porter

-Or What if the Grizzles take someone other than Porter or JJJ and maybe take Trae Young? - So we pick either JJJ or Porter, We still have to take Porter.

Technically the Nba draft starts at the 1st overall pick, But actually the REAL DRAFT starts at 4th pick

5 comes after 4. Lol.

Right the number 5 always comes after the number 4, Ayton, Donocic and Bagley are the top 3 picks so the real draft starts at the 4th pick. Than 5th pick Mavericks is on the clock after the 4th pick Grizzles make their selection.

i dont understand the love for Porter. He overpowered regular HS players at 6'10, but was average against players his level in FIBA. He isnt a dynamic scorer, above average shooter, he doesnt have the ability to drive and score. oh, and then add the injury risk

Quite a few prospective top picks are underwhelming in FIBA.

Still, MPjr averaged 16 ppg, 6 reb.

Would you mind looking up how Anthony Davis did for me?

Two more tweets liked by Young... that's four total about going to the magic since the lotto results and no tweets about other teams. Seems we're at the top of his wish list for realistic landing spots.

Could there be any bigger indication that Young is going to get drafted by Orlando?

Kelvin Sampson as lead candidate out of nowhere, no guard free agents or money to sign them, no teams in need of a point guard ahead of Orlando in the draft, lack of scoring entirely, him always posting about Orlando..Pretty transparent...

Guess I’ll disagree with every move this current management will have done up to the start of the season. Might as well max Gordon out, keep him for the foreseeable future, and trade our second rounders for future cash considerations.

If Trae really wants to be here that moves him up in my book. Give me Trae or Porter.

Since WeHam is so obsessed with length, how about draft Bamba then trade for Mitchell. Imagine:
SF-Isaac
PF-Mitchell
C-Bamba
THAT'S LENGTH! You can't teach height and athleticism. Just train these guys how to shoot then we're set.

You know the last guard to hint or directly ask Orl to draft him was Booker. I don't see Bamba lasting to 6. Trae is the pick.

I still feel that one like a punch in the gut, but hey other teams passed on books too. Doesn't make me feel any better though lol

It was Young for me until I got to see more of Dončić. Then he slid to 3 when I can see how drafting Jackson allows the Magic to flip Vučević for a starting-quality PG.

But let us all be honest with ourselves. If the outcome of this (turdball of a) season is Young, the magic have a core moving forward.

Well Davis also could play a touch of college-ball defense, setting the all time record for rookie blocks and averaging well over 10 rpg. Oh, and he led Kentucky to a National Championship and was named Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA tournament.

Uh huh... MPjr missed the entire NCAA season. Who knows what his college career would have been.

... that is the point.

When looking at the #6, there has historically either been a quality starter or a bad pick where one of the next players is a quality starter. The scouting clearly matters at this pick so that instead of going for height in a Robert Traylor, the team selects for talent and gets a Dirk Nowitzki or Paul Pierce. As an extreme example.

..

Here's how the 6 turned out:

2017-Jonathan Isaac
Showed defensive promise. Only Donovan Mitchell would arguebly go higher.

2016-Buddy Hield
Continues to show promise and is a mature player. No obvious better player that draft.

2015-Willie Cauley-Stein
Getting better every year. No obvious better player that draft.

2014-Marcus Smart
Undersized and poor stat PG. The only thing he brings is that he does is win games. Zach LaVine is probably the only paper to go higher.

2013-Nerlens Noel
Looking more and more like a journey man player. The Sixers were not going to draft Gobert at #6, but Antetokounmpo would not have been insane.

2012-Damian Lillard
All star player. No obvious better player that draft.

2011-Jan Veselý
Journey man player already out of the NBA. CoUld have had Kemba Walker, Klay Thompson, and Kawhi Leonard as stars. Actually most of the next 20 players after Veselý were wiser choices than him, even Biyombo at #8.

2010-Ekpe Udoh
Bench player. COUld have had Greg Monroe, Gordon Hayward, or Paul George. Even Al-Farouq Aminu or Ed Ed Davis would have been wiser choices

2009-Jonny Flynn
The Wolves draft two consecutive PGs at 4 and 5, and Stephen Curry ends up #6. What can you do? Flynn was panned when selected, and looking at the wonderful players below him, there were five PGs selected after hum that become long-term NBA starers, this was an awful selection.

2008-Danilo Gallinari
Nice player and not obvious anyone else can obviously be tarted.

2007-Yi Jianlian
Current teammate of Andrew Nicholson. Might be the highlight comment to make. Joakim Noah made more sense here.

2006-Brandon Roy
All star who's career was cut short by injury. No obvious better player that draft.

2005-Martell Webster
Classic tweeter but has had a good NBA career. Could have drafted Fran Vázquez and saved the Magic the embarrassment! More seriously, there is no one player that obviously changes this draft pick.

2004-Josh Childress
Career faded fast. CoUld have easily have been Luol Deng or Andre Iguodala.

2003-Chris Kaman
In one of the best drafts every, the Clippers miss out on one of the four future All stars (and Miličić). No obvious better player that draft.

2002-Dajuan Wagner
Strong rookie year and the flamed out. Awful pick given that most of the next players are important NBA contributors: Nenê, Chris Wilcox, Amar'e Stoudemire, and Caron Butler were the next four, for example.

2001-Shane Battier
A good, not great player. No obvious better player that draft.

2000-DerMarr Johnson
Backup player with short career. Awful pick given that most of the next players are important NBA contributors: Chris Mihm, Jamal Crawford, Joel Przybilla, and Keyon Dooling were the next four, for example.

1999-Wally Szczerbiak
Excellent NBA player. The pick stands.

1998-Robert Traylor
Well, Dirk Nowitzki and Paul Pierce were options. So ...

With Robinson spending a year only getting ready for the NBA draft, he really needs to come in to draft camp looking like a chisel sculpture. Gym training really needs to show him displaying lateral quickness and mental focus. There is really nowhere to put him in a mock draft right now unless we see if he looks like Arnold or Butterbean.

Is that because of need or he's likely the BPA at #6?

Poor free agent class for PGs, only Exum, Smart and Payton are under 25.

And the Magic drafted Issacs last year so another wing may not make sense, though are the Magic going to let Gordon and Hejonja just go in free agency with nothing in return?

I'd bet a good amount of money on Young being better than a majority of players drafted ahead of him

Like others have said, I'm willing to live with the risk of Young's bust potential.
