Re: GimmeDat's Big Board/Mocks
6-8 range is a toss up for me from a BB perspective, will want to see MPJ in pre-draft process and I don't want to underrate Young either. Went full circle on a couple of guys I soured on to find a reasonable middle-ground I think (Sexton, R.Williams), I didn't end up actually moving him many positions but Troy Brown is someone whose grown on me the last week or so looking back at him, I stopped sleeping on Khyri Thomas and moved him in to the 1st round. Dropped Frazier a bit more, I was in love with him but the more I look I see a guy that's raw for his age and has some red flags shooting wise. Gave Okogie another little boost as a result, like him. Melton I dropped a bit more just due to the uncertainty on his shooting projection because he was really bad freshman year, but can easily bounce back in workouts imo. Boosted Kurucs, I think he's a great get in the 2nd. Depth is shaping up pretty nicely through to late 2nd round imo.
Might not be completely accurate based on draft ins and outs, if I'm missing someone or have someone in that is out let me know.

You think the Bulls take Porter over Bridges? Could come down to a coin flip result. Amazingly, Bogdan Bogdanovich just went to surgery to clear up some cartilage. Kings are the only “tanking” team to play a key player with a legitimate injury and it might cost them Porter.

I'm up in the air on Porter, will need to see how his pre draft process goes. I've never really been sold on him and have been pushing Bamba over him, and at least pushing that Mikal, Young, Carter etc. Should not be dismissed as options over MPJ either, but the Bulls board is enamoured with him and his supposed star power. I dunno, part of me thinks I'd probably take him if healthy on a BPA basis, but I don't think it's a great fit.
What I would say, is if you do miss out on MPJ, who does seem to make a lot of sense for you guyd, I don't think there's some big dropoff you're on the worst end of. Mikal is thr guy I'd take, and he'd give the Kings a real winning presence.

Personally I like Mikhal also but then I liked WCS and Cousins. I would prefer if at some point the Kings stopped drafting outside the top 3 and hoping every other team makes mistakes.

Don't think you'll be back in the top 3 any time soon, but I really don't think the dropoff is that steep. Guys like Ayton have all the hype but have their share of issues as well. Like we (Bulls), I think it's the sort of range where you don't need to rely on above teams making mistakes.. there's impact players still to be had.

We will see. Statistics show most draft years have 2-3 three time all stars. Drafting in the top 5 your chances of landing one are exponentially higher than drafting 6-10. And I literally mean double. The curve is a clear exponential distribution as you move 1-30 in terms of odds of landing an impact player.

Over a larger sample that sounds completely logical, but at the end of the day, the actual number someone is drafted at is pretty arbitrary.
I believe this draft and last to be pretty strong through the top 10. The difference between 2/3 (Ball/Tatum) and 4/5/7/9 (Jackson/Fox/Markkanen/DSJ) isn't that massive (I left out Isaac and Ntilikina because they're long term projects we can't really gauge at this stage).
Kings and Bulls are in the same boat this season and while I'd like to be higher, like everyone would, I think we'll both come out alright should their respective FO's not blow it on draft night.

@GimmeDat, do you really think Penava is a borderline first round pick? Moreover, Musa is the perfect San Antonio pick (18th).

Yeah, I could see it happening. He's big, long, skilled. Obviously very productive this college season as well. Only things I'm conscious of with him is his somewhat slow feet and the level of competition he played against. Otherwise a lot to like.
Putting Musa at 18 on the big board was purely a coincidence but I can definitely see him going to the Spurs.

Re: GimmeDat's Big Board/Mocks
Post-Lottery Mock -
1. Suns - Luka Doncic - (coaching connection plus best player in draft. Will play PG with Jackson defending the point imo)
2. Kings - Deandre Ayton - (Ayton and Doncic are clear top 2 imo, so obvious choice. Fits straight in at C)
3. Hawks - Jaren Jackson Jr. (ideal compliment to Collins in the front-court, gives them a good defensive core)
4. Grizz - Bagley (can pair up with Gasol in front-court, will fit exceptionally in a smart, functional team system)
5. Mavs - Bamba (clear fit at C, next best prospect available imo)
6. Magic - Young (maybe they don't like him but he's such an obvious fit and deserves to be this high imo)
7. Bulls - Porter Jr. (not an ideal fit but high upside and is a Bulls stan)
8. Cavs - Mik. Bridges (I think they're going to go all in for the best fit w/ LBJ here)
9. Knicks - Carter (would prefer Mikal here but Carter will work just fine next to KP and good talent outcome)
10. Sixers - Smith (High upside, could develop in to stud role player that fits with existing core. Would trade back if I could in this situation though, I think it's Mikal/Young or bust for Sixers at this spot)
11. Hornets - Mil. Bridges (good fit to me, gives them youth and upside too. Gives them some hope for the future while fitting in to existing core should they stick with it)
12. Clippers - Sexton (they need an alpha-dog type, and with little in the way of PG talent, they can just give him the keys)
13. Clippers - Robinson (why not double down on upside when you have 2 lottery picks. Possible Deandre replacement)
14. Nuggets - SGA (big, defensive based PG that gives them a different look to Murray a the 1)
15. Wizards - R.Williams (they need an athletic, defensive big, Williams is NBA ready within his role and should fit great)
16. Suns - J.Porter (wouldn't mind if the Suns traded out of this spot either. But gives them another high IQ front-court player and allows them to let Len walk)
17. Bucks - Walker Jr. (2 way wing, some dynamism on the wing. I trust him as a shooter and ave him high on my BB. Pity Bucks don't come out of this outcome with a C though, that position is killing them)
18. Spurs - Musa (it's been mentioned they love him, and he makes a lot of sense fit wise. Spurs need fire-power)
19. Hawks - Okogie (desperately need back-court talent and Okogie's going to keep rising)
20. Wolves - Heurter (T-Wolves desperately need shooters that can play their role. Feel a bit uncomfortably having him quite this high but I think it's a great fit. Wolves still need defenders though)
21. Jazz - Okobo (insurance for Exum should they give up on him in the near future, can also play the 2 where they're a bit weak)
22. Bulls - Fernando (gives us a young project big. Move out RoLo and give this guy a chance, I like his tools a fair bit)
23. Pacers - Brown (good defender, multi-positional, high IQ, will fit in nicely with this Indiana squad)
24. Blazers - Hutchison (NBA ready, 2 way player, provides them some athletic slashing and an extra ball handler)
25. Lakers - Knox (3/4 that can develop behind Kuzma/Ingram as a bench combo forward)
26. Sixers - Shamet (they're deep in the frontcourt, have big plans for the wings. Shamet is a long, 2 way shooter at the 1)
27. Celtics - Simons (they're deep enough to develop a project, and have great systems and coaching in place to do so. Simons has the tools, is a more natural 2 than Brown, could also develop to play some 1 and cover Smart or Rozier leaving at any point in the future)
28. Warriors - Bates-Diop (combo forward, versatile defender, good shooter, NBA ready. Good fit for the Warriors)
29. Nets - Wilkes (another project, I believe with considerably upside, at their weakest 'young' position)
30. Hawks - Ponds (If you're ATL, you've got to at least be considering Schroder going. No PG has been drafted yet, Ponds is a guy that could step in to an on-ball role with some success)
I did a whole second round as well -
Guys that probably deserved to be drafted but didn't for some reason in this mock - Newman, Graham

Re: GimmeDat's Big Board/Mocks
I still hate that Doncic to Suns one, They'd essentially pass on a big in the hope that Bender actually turns out to be something. I think at some point you have to give up and just go with Ayton and then hope you can get decent return for Bender (maybe even package him and see if you can get a young P.G.).
If Kevin Knox falls to 25 we've won the draft hands down, I think he's a borderline lottery talent just cause of what he could be. I'd say if we'd have landed him at 25 its going to be back to back years that we've gotten huge late round steals.

Re: GimmeDat's Big Board/Mocks
I really like the Mock, pretty in line with how I see it, at least until #13, not a Robinson fan at all
(I'd take R. Wiliams in front of him just looking at the bigs).
Like Heurter to Twolves idea, seems like a great fit there. Pretty good take on late 1st in general imo.
I am working on this post lotto part, looking to post it all at some point today/tomorrow.

So love the Kings draft on here and hope it comes true. But curious on your thoughts of a trade if the Kings think Giles/ Ayton is an overlap.
Do you think Chicago trades Markennan and 7 for 2 and the rights for Ayton? Not sure I would do it but I think the Kings might.

How bout we just draft Ayton and let the 20 year old Bender grow into a 7’1 3D guy who can handle the ball at times. Two switching 7’1 bigs, one doing damage in the pick and roll and post ups and the other shooting 3’s alas Channing Frye is fine by this Suns fan.

The way I see it, I'm taking Doncic because he's BPA in my eyes. I don't think not taking Ayton is based on any expectations around Bender. If you think Ayton's the best player in the draft, then you take him, and I think Bender can easily co-exist with him as well.
Knox at 25 was probably the guy that slipped a bit too far in my 1st round mock. I could easily have him late teens but I made him slip a little and then the next few teams didn't really have a need for his type. It sounds like in reality he'll be taken somewhere between 10-15, but imo that's a reach. I like his projection as a shooter but he's pretty underwhelming in most other areas of the game.

Don't blame you, Robinson is one of the most polarizing guys in the draft, I'm still unsure on him myself. I do see a lot of upside and I figured with the Clippers having back to back lottery picks they'd give it a whirl. I think we'll get a better indication of his range later in the pre-draft process though.

.
Can Doncic and Booker (who is the franchise) co-exist though? Fair enough though if you have Doncic as BPA because generally BPA first is a good principle.

Honestly not that bad, also if he doesn't turn out, you have Chriss also.
