Luka Doncic hints that he might stay in Europe next season

What does it mean for his draft position? Does he still go in the top 5? A team looking to tank for another season would not hesitate to take a special talent like Luka even if he doesn't play next season. Thoughts?

Think he saw the lottery and got scared of going to Sacramento or Memphis...

Yes, still a top 5 pick. I actually don't think it impacts him much, although Bamba might rise above him b/c of workouts (which might happen anyway).

Honestly this could be it. Wouldn't be the first time a coveted euro player tried to steer clear of going to a small market team

I'm trying to recall the last time a player declared during the Final Four?

Honestly not sure what he expected to happen during the lottery. Odds of Chicago, New York, or Philly getting into the top 3 was very slim.

Strong negotiating tactic.

He´s still playing for Real Madrid. He´s not going to say: "I´m leaving" until the season ends.

If I'm Sacramento I still snag him and tank for another top 5 pick next season, potentially entering the 2019/2020 season with two top prospects

Who would chose Sacramento over Real Madrid? In Europe the world is Doncic's oyster. It's very possible that he's pulling a Kobe.

Was just about to say this. If Ayton goes #1, thoughts on trading down a few spots and acquiring a first rounder next season? Could take Bamba, Carter, JJJ, or Bagley depending on who's left.

Alright well in that case I'm looking at you Atlanta...

Trading down for a pick next season wouldn't be a bad idea but after seeing what happened to Colangelo I think teams will be really hesitant to do it.

Negotiating for what? Rookie contracts are pretty much slotted with each draft pick.

They don't have their pick next year...Boston/Philly does.

I'm just hoping it's a move to force his way down to 9 haha

I'm pretty torn on this, on one hand I'm happy with the top 9 guys in the draft landing in NY taking one guy out of that picture drops us to the next tier of projected talent. On the other hand, I'm projecting the Knicks are going to have a pretty bleak season that includes many losses and if Doncic declares next year instead I think we'd have a much better chance of getting him.
Go Knicks!

Pretty much this.

I just think it's his not so subtle way of hinting to "certain" teams that he rather not play there.

Exactly, Real plays tomorrow the most important game of the season,
its not the time to talk about draft

hes going to nba for sure, hes just being polite with the club and the fans.
