For the record I sympathize with the Orlando fan. I remember being very frustrated with indiana when we had a similar outcome with Solomon Hill. Can’t imagine how I would have felt if we had declined the option of a lottery pick. I figure this is the place to come to get the most insightful answers to my questions.

How do you rate indiana as a destination for Mario?
Do you think he is better off going to a lesser team that can offer more money and a larger role?
If he were to go to the Pacers, what would you predict for him next year and longer?

not sure how Solomon Hill compares. you dodged a bullet there. He took a huge payday and has sucked.

We could have had another year with Solo on his rookie deal which would have looked good considering our roster last year.

but again, that saved you from paying that albatross contract he has now. Maybe that happens with us, we'll have to wait and see how Mario looks next year.

Had Solo been a free agent last summer (what he would have been if Indiana exercised its option) he probably wouldn't have commanded the money he did in the summer of 2016. Particularly if you assume his overall performance (during the 2016/2017 season) would have been the same with Indiana as it was for New Orleans. But, no point in wandering this far into the non-reality world.

Back to your guy (Herzonja) right now how do you compare his upside to Aaron Gordon?

MARIO has the tools to be a good defender but he is still far away from reaching his potential.

MARIO is young and not a finished product

But he won't be here by the time he reaches it

His bags r already packed

He has made several comments that make me think he wants to be in ORL. If we don't draft a SF, I think he stays for the opportunity to start. I don't think his bags are quite packed yet.
Do not max Vuc!

Hezonja is more fluid offensively, but not nearly as athletic as Gordon and doesnt have the defensive ability AG has shown in previous years (but not this year so much)

Glad to see lots of Mario doubters last year finally see what Mario is capable of doing.

The season was overshadowed by injuries, tanking, and vogel suckage, but damn Mario had a great year. Happy to see it finally clicked for him (and received the opportunity to play and mess up).

It's unfortunate his option was not picked up, but imagine the joy we'd have going into next season knowing we'd have on the roster for sure. I pray he gives the new coach & WeHam a chance and stays with us.

He would be a good player to have on the floor with Young (if he's picked).

All I want for my birthday and Christmas.

I think Mario loves Orlando but he'd need guaranteed playing time to stay here. I think he'll stay if we move Fournier

I think a good discussion with the new coach can win him over. If new guys comes in and is like, "we're giving the young guys playing time to gain that experience, learn to succeed and learn how to recover from failure, and we trust our coaches to coach them up and put them in the best position to succeed", that'll be huge for us.

also shrinking the wing depth a little will open his eyes. Gotta imagine WeHam openly showing love and expressing to him how it was a mistake to not pick up the option and how they took Vogel's word and now he's fired because of it, blah blah blah, will sound great enough for at least 1 other year.

Not sure I'd take that from this, it's a big thing being drafted to the right team

Until I am told differently by Woj (or Mario himself) I'm hoping against all odds that he's back running the wing with an improved AG, Isaac, and Trae, moving the ball, shooting confidently, running ...Honestly, I'd be less upset by an AG sign and trade (assuming it's not awful) than I would be watching Mario prosper on a good team. I do understand it's unlikely but re-signing Mario, drafting Trae and re-signing AG to 21m would be a tremendous offseason IMO.

It's the foundation of a tremendous off season, I agree though, a lot needs to be decided with the veterans and other pieces, hopefully what you stated happens and we make some moves for parts that are young/picks and that fit whatever culture and identity we decide on.

Mario wants minutes, could he be sugesting that he will observe what we do with Gordon ? If we dont bring Aaron back Mario could be in a good spot here. Our new coach will make all the difference too.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

He is most likely gone but:
1. If Gordon leaves there is huge opportunity here
2. Maybe he will like our new coach, he didnt trust Vogel at all, it is obvious when you hear his exit interview
3. Europeans are more loyal
4. He adapts at a slow pace, changing team not the best idea for him

He could be loyal but we can't pay him more than mle, so no way he stays

Mario will end up in Utah, Sac, or San Antonio.

... and he will end up being a key contributor but never a star.
