Series over

Lightning are winning in 7

Caps are the worst home team in the playoffs

Dominate posession and so many shots on goal and still lose

Eller fukked up

At some point in this series, Tyler Johnson is going to get going.

The Caps have dominated event strength play all series long but their pathetic penalty kill is pretty much the difference in the series.

What's particularly disconcerting is how their play with a man advantage has come to a grinding halt also.

The Lightning took some terrible penalties but Washington laid egg after egg. Seemed like they couldn't even get a decent shot off most of the time, truly pathetic power play performance by all involved.

Huge momentum swing, this could be over in six if they don't get the game in Tampa.

D.C. Sports at its best. The Caps' special teams sucked so bad last night. Terrible penalty kill. Awful power play. So bad that RTR fans that are one of the nicest in sports, are booing at the end of the first period. I think the series is over but they'll probably find a way to get it to Game 7.

How many times have we seen it? Take a million shots but with nobody in front of the net looking for rebounds or screening the goalie, you get two goals.

They need a goal scoring PF in the worst way. As a flyers fan, Wayne Simmonds is 100% available this offseason. Someone like that, JVR is a free agent. Too much perimeter play, need more traffic for certain.

The caps could move that 27th overall pick and Burakovsky for Wayne Simmonds. They need a player like that. Tom Wilson is garbage

I disagree that Wilson is garbage but yes, they do need a power forward that can score. Speaking of garbage, you can have Burakovsky.

I’m pretty sure Burakovsky leads the caps in CF%, even when he doesn’t score, he drives play at an elite clip, we would welcome him on the flyers. Double digit even strength goals 3 consecutive seasons, always been a + player. Pretty sure he’s only 23.

Might be a nice fit there, Philly gets Burakovsky and the 27th overall pick, Washington gets a 30 goal scoring PF in Wayne Simmonds.

He's soft AF. Is there a metric for that? Simmonds has just one year left on his deal. I don't know if they'd do that, but he's a tough SOB for playing with a broken pelvis, broken ankle and numerous other injuries.

Yep, he was literally playing injured all season long, had a rough year but was still decent.

Other option is Niederreiter from Minnesota, not sure what type of contract he’s on, might not be available anymore though, JVR in free agency, didn’t think the caps had cap space but not sure.

Simmonds might be the best most realistic option, would obviously be a rental situation.

The money works I believe because the Caps are capped out. I think Carlson is gone and maybe Beagle, so that would save $$$. But losing Carlson after Alzner the year before is going to crush the D.

Series was over after Game 4. Total no-shows in the beginning of the first period and beginning of the second period. How the f-ck can Tampa Bay go through an entire game without committing a penalty? The second goal could have been a call as Orlov was tripped but that's not why they lost. Their power plays sucks anyways. But they are done as usual. Mentally soft again and again and again....SOS.

I didn’t think Orlov was tripped, he kinda just fell over. Still weird that Tampa didn’t commit a single penalty lol

So close to a cup appearance. This was their last shot.

it's a leonsis owned team, so you knew they wouldn't amount to sh*t.

Yes, unfortunately. Carlson is gone next season in free agency. They will be Wizards-like mediocre forever unless they break the team up and start over. Also, have to wonder if Holtby is just a great regular season goaltender (wasn't great this season) and tends to lose confidence too easily in postseason.

The Caps do have some good young prospects, Axel Jonsoon-Fjallby and the young Russian goalie, Samsonov. It's just they've used a majority of the caps space on aging vets with long term deals.
