If he now hurts his draft stock enough and say gets picked later by tanking his value because the first say 8 or 9 teams dont want to risk taking him if he might not come then he can fall to the range down enough where the Suns can trade up using our assets to still get him. I think his agent is on purpose tanking his value, dont know if someone has said this already, didnt read all 10 pages.

Well, you should have, cause this is a no-story, fake news :)

Highly doubt he's not coming over next year. Even if he does stay in Europe, I'd pick him anyway. Do the same thing the Timberwolves did with Ricky Rubio.

Woj interview just now on ESPN, paraphrasing -

Luka's comments are consistent with the entire season and he does it out of respect for his team

Duffy and Luka have not sat down to look at the lottery or if he is staying or going

Luka will have leverage, if he doesn't love the team that drafts him he could stay in Europe, Luka has to pay a buyout.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

He only has to pay a buyout if it is more than the amount NBA teams are allowed to contribute under the agreement between the NBA and FIBA. In 2016 that amount was $650K but it may have gone up.

The buyout is something Duffy would negotiate with Real Madrid as part of Doncic's contract. Doncic almost certainly won't have to go out of pocket for it, so it's really a non-factor.

If U.S. fans want another look at Doncic, Real Madrid is playing CSKA Moscow at 3 pm edt today on NBA TV. In addition to Doncic you get to watch Nando de Colo, Sergio Rodriguez and Sergio Liull, who is back playing after his injury. Both teams have very high-powered backcourts.

So now the question is, With recent reports that Memphis may be looking to trade out of the #4 pick, if...say...Phoenix were to end up with it, does Duffy and Doncic force their way to the Suns? We already have Duffy saying thats where Luka wants to be, we have his other agent saying that they can force their way to the team they want like they did with Dragic. Duffy is not only Doncic's Agent, but also Ayton's as well. Suns have a very very good relationship with Duffy as he was Nash's agent (And we did right by him sending him to the Lakers where he wanted to go even if we didnt want to), and he was also Kokosovs agent at one point as well.

Im telling you, Suns will be walking away from this draft with both Ayton and Doncic.

Then Ainge will have trained McDonough too well, just as Ainge trained Darryl Morey.

Interesting really, not sure if it means much... but how many teams would pass on him knowing that? I would bet he fell to 4 and Memphis traded down for a later pick or picks / futures to a team in or going into a long rebuild that is willing to wait.Memphis aint going into a rebuild and they are not waiting if he's staying and they don't need any of the top bigs unless they trade Gasol.

They don't have their pick next year...Boston/Philly does.

I'm just hoping it's a move to force his way down to 9 haha

I'm pretty torn on this, on one hand I'm happy with the top 9 guys in the draft landing in NY taking one guy out of that picture drops us to the next tier of projected talent. On the other hand, I'm projecting the Knicks are going to have a pretty bleak season that includes many losses and if Doncic declares next year instead I think we'd have a much better chance of getting him.

You have no chance of getting him at 9. Delusion.

Doncic looking pretty good. Real nice blow-by for the bucket there. If I was a Suns fan, I’d be lighting offerings to the gods that they take Luka over Ayton. He’s got superstar written all over him IMO. Definitely the class of the draft class.

Doncic is gaining some momentum in the Moscow-Madrid game. He's aggressive

Playing real well. Step back 3, attacked off bounce, nice pass on secondary break (missed three), stopped fast break by himself, etc. Been watching him for the last few years and every time I watch him I become more enthralled. Most well rounded (offensively, at least) SG prospect since Roy and best euro prospect ever. Whoever ends up with him will be very happy for a long time.

He's been ok, but not super. Let's see what happens in the second half.

I know it's sacrosanct here not to **** on the Kings, but ...

Isn't it just as plausible that if Doncic is posturing to not goto a certain team that that team is the Suns and not the Kings?

- The Kings owner may be a dunce, but the Suns owner isn't a whole hell of a lot better[1].
- Did you know that the Kings have averaged 8 more wins per year over the past 3 years compared to the Suns. If the Kings suck then what would you say about a team that wins 8 fewer times a year?
- The Suns just hired his old coach, but the Kings have European (more specifically Serbian) basketball royalty in their front office (Doncic's nationality may be Slovenian, but he's ethnically Serbian) and they even have one of his friends already on the team (Bogdanovic).

Doncic was ok again, but not great again in the second half, although I thought he played intelligently at both ends. Sergio Liull is the reason Real Madrid won, along with Ayon in the post and some decent shooting from Jaycee Carroll.
