Compared to his height he doesn't really have elite length. And yes, if he's a PF then he's around average.

Elite length as in the average player with his skill set is between 6'6-6'8. The difference is hes 6'10 or 6'11. Regardless what position he plays he stands to be a matchup nightmare for either small forwards or power forwards.

Look at Durant its nearly impossible to block his shots.

I'm not saying we don't take Doncic. All I'm saying is that I have a really good feeling that if MPJ can stay healthy, hes going to be playing in many all star games down the line.

Durant has like a 7'5" wingspan. I don't see Porter Jr. as anything like Durant, I get the comparisons but unless he develops the same smooth off the dribble shot it won't happen. Porter Jr. has more of an off balanced set shot. I will say I still continue to believe his best position will be PF and I agree, at PF he could be a matchup problem for other teams. The thing he's got going for him is he doesn't mind roughing it up under the basket. The question is whether his body holds up playing that way.

I'm open to multiple players at 2. I can see arguments for drafting any of 3-5 players there and can see the arguments for Porter Jr so I hear you.

I wasnt necessarily saying hes going to be Kevin Durant. I just watch KD and it doesn't matter what defender you put on him he can shoot over you. MPJ has a 9' standing reach, if he develops that shot it will be similarly unstoppable.

KD is obviously more of a freak athlete, and I don't anticipate MPJ ever being that good. In the current NBA I just can't think of another example of a 6'10 player with wing skills who can shoot like him. I heard somewhere Brandon Ingram, but these guys couldn't be built more different.

I honestly wouldn't consider him at 2 with his back issue. I'm pretty much settled on Doncic or Bagley and the more I hear I'm slightly being talked into JJJ.

I see more Gallonari in MPJ's game than I do KD

Bolded times a million

Durant's wingspan is arguably is most unique (and greatest) trait. It allows him to get his (also great) shot off from anywhere as well as defend like a monster.

It's like saying that a guy plays like Curry, but tops out at 38%.

That all said, I like Porter a bit because I feel he brings a few key abilities to the table (for the modern NBA):
1) He's agile enough to switch on screens
2) He can shoot
3) He can create shots for himself (jury's still out if he can create for others)

That's one of the ingredients Boston has been so effective with. I don't think he'll be Durant (a guy who'll go down as a top 50 player ever despite being a complete bitch), but I do think he has the potential to be a very effective player.

Not sure why everyone is saying hes not like Durant, nobody even said that. The only comparison I made was that a guy his size with wing ability is able to get his shot off over smaller defenders. Never said they had the same game or anything of that nature.

Also correct me if Im wrong but standing reach is more indicative of a players ability to shoot over someone rather than wingspan?

Sexton = troll stuff
Bamba is valid though. I voted Doncic, but Bamba has been #3 on my list for a while. His potential is tremendous, although he has a low floor.

NBA Draft.net has suddenly dropped Luka to #5 FWIW.

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I’m preparing myself for Bagley at 2 and a Hezonja signing during FA. I don’t want that, but I’m prepared. I just want to leave this draft with Melvin Frazier if at all possible. Please!!!

If we draft Bagley I could see Skal/37 getting us in range for Frazier or Bonga.

I could see that. I see Bonga’s ceiling being tremendous, but his floor is awfully low. Because of that, I don’t really see him going earlier than the 2nd round unless some team just falls in love with him. I know it only takes one team, but there is a ton of risk with this kid. That being said, I really like him.

Frazier is my guy though. I just can’t help but see shades of Kawhi, Josh Richardson, and what we thought Iman Shumpert would be. His defense makes me drool. His offensive game is already good, still developing, and I really think he could be something on that end. I just don’t want to leave the draft without him. I think he might get picked by 20. Hopefully not though.

Maybe grab Bagley at two and then trade down with a team that has a shot at Luka but aren't so inclined, but love Bagley?

Haha, one can dream I guess. He'd probably take Trae Young anyway.
