Since lottery night (im still drunk btw), there has been more hype and excitement locally by fans and media that I can remember in the past 10 years at least.
I haven't seen anything yet but I assume season tickets sales are going to start selling faster than the past 8 years.
The hype train for ayton locally is pretty insane, obviously we have never been in this situation before but ive never seen such overwhelming support for one prospect. I think Kellan Olsen is the only local guy that is supporting Doncic. I also think Kellan is the only guy that has scouted doncic.
The way this local hype is going i fear if they pick anyone but Ayton there will be massive fallout and majority of the hype that we got with winning the lotto will be lost. I doubt the season tickets will sell as well if they don't take Ayton. Remember the boos when Majerle was picked? Its going to be 5 times worse when those filthy, casual fans hear the pick.
I think that will be a factor in the selection process since I dont believe theres a big gap between them.

I prefer ayton, i wont be mad at Doncic, i trust the front office to execute their vision. You cant make the wrong pick with those two guys.

Doncic has a lot of hype right now because of the euro tourney but I guarantee once ayton comes in to meet our F.O. and workout, McD will fall back in love to Deandre. A 7’ footer with the athleticism and offensive skill that Ayton possesses cannot be passed up.

I like Doncic a lot but Ayton is more of a positional need... if booker has a say and chimes in (because our FO consults with him on decisions now) he says Ayton 100% .... that means something !

1. How realistic of a shot do we have at Capela? It seems almost inevitable that Houston matches any offer.
2. Would you drafts someone like Mitchell Robinson or Robert Williams at 16?
3. Do we wait and see what Kokoskov can do with Chriss/Bender and have one of them play the position?
4. Bring back Len (yuck)? or keep Chandler as the starter for the remainder of his contract (bigger yuck)?
5. There are some other interesting options such as Derick Favors who already has a rapport with Kokoskov

Try to sign a guy like Favors (if Koko likes the fit with us for C) and also draft a guy like Robert Williams if possible or if they like him, Mitchell Robinson.

If it's up to Booker he would trade the #1 pick for Towns in a heartbeat.

What's Fultz's value?
Would an unprotected 2019 Suns pick and 2019 Bucks pick get it done?

He was very Harden-esque before the shoulder injury.... his ability to drive and get a layup under pressure... thats Harden-like.

I agree. With Ayton's freakish athleticism, a body sculpted by the Center gods, and his impressive shooting touch, it should be a no brainer. He has all the tools to correct his weakness, which is defense. Doncic on the other hand, seems like his athleticism will prevent him from being a great defender.

Doncic is a special talent and any team would be lucky to have him but I feel he's not worth using our first #1 overall pick in franchise history. But just to be in this position is fun so I wouldn't be disappointed if we picked Doncic. But I'm 98% sure we choose Ayton

The Suns are taking Ayton #1 unless he completely turns them off as they get to know him over the next month. He would have to make some outrageous demands or not commit to work on defense. There would be some disappointed ppl but who cares as long as they get it right. Although the last poll I saw on Arizona Sports was 83% Ayton and Bagley was second.

McD is giving up unprotected picks unless it’s for Doncic or another young star. For Atlanta or Memphis to give us #3/#4 we’d need to give them a Billy King haul of unprotected picks because Chriss and Bender mean nothing to those teams.

You think they are taking him #1 in part for the fan base and him being a local guy? Or just because you believe he's kind of a no brainer #1 pick?

And when you say there would be some disappointed people are you saying in the case they take Doncic but who cares if they do and get it right?

I feel pretty sure they are taking Ayton...I was almost 100% sure earlier but for one reason or another I just keep having doubts. It is interesting that both Sarver and James Jones went to Doncic's game today. But I think it makes sense to even if you are 95% sure you want Ayton.

Even if McD thought Doncic was the no brainer choice I am not sure he'd have the balls to take him right now anyway.

Another interesting quote I came across...

Today he has told Slovenian media: "I am not surprised to see Igor Kokoshkov getting a HC job. It would be great if we could work together again. He has helped my game a lot and him being my first NBA HC would definitely help me adjust to the NBA quicker. When I saw PHX got the 1. pick I wrote him a text to congratulate him, because I'm happy for him. We (b)een in touch and speak almost EVERY WEEK. "

Not that any of that really matters as far as what the FO decides to do.

I think they will pick Ayton (the hype machine is too strong) , but I know they want Doncic - this is why I truly believe a trade might happen for the Suns to move up and snag them both. Doncic just fits McD''s vision of a position less team too perfectly. I would be most happy with Doncic and a defensive center (whoever that is). We will see.

Love his feet, watch how nimble they are. Slide, shuffle, and light on his feet.

Edit: lob finisher, passer

Lack of motor on full display at the 7:39 mark, with a double digit lead on an unranked team.

May bad, I missed it. I was busy looking at the end results of his game....dominance.

I don’t think local aspect has impact on McD. He’s all about upside and Ayton is one of the most physically imposing prospects in the last decade. Drummond and Embiid were freaks but one had zero offensive skill and the other had medical red flags. As far as I know Ayton has never had any type of injury history which is rare for someone that young and big.

Knowing what Deandre Ayton could become is enough reason to take him #1 overall

I don't think they trade for Doncic if the Kings nab him but in the scenario that he's picked 4th or so and they get another top 10 pick I guess I can see that happening.

Yes - Carl''s Jr at lunch. I've eaten there 3 out of 5 days this week. I haven't noticed anything. No inside knowledge. :( I just believe they want him because of the way McD has been building the Suns & Kokoskov''s style - just makes sense.
