The trade can't be processed until September. It can be agreed on at any time. It is no different then when FA starts deals are agreed to that can't be signed for a week or so.

As much as I like Ferguson I'm going to have to agree. When you look at the roster and your potential rebuild starts with Ferguson, Adams, Abrines and Grant you haven't even started the car much less pulled up to the starting line.

Yes, I get that. But a full 3 plus months isn't a realistic wait. So much happens from June to September.

Re: 2018 NBA Draft Thread
Couple of things:
1. As mentioned, Russ can't be traded until September
2. He's not going to some trash team so that eliminates everyone in the lottery except LAC and Philly, and I doubt LAC wants a contract that big considering they got rid of Blake and don't have much to build around currently. They are better off just getting rid of DJ and drafting the two lotto picks.
3. If Russ were to be traded, why in the world would this franchise keep Steven Adams. He isn't a Davis, Porzingis, Embiid, possibly Towns, potentially Ayton type of guy that you think will develop into some dominant force. We know what he is and what he isn't at this point. He is a very valuable player for a team that has stars that will draw attention and allow him to play PNR effectively. Similar to Clint Capela.
Remember how horrible he looked during the MVP season where the spacing was suspect and people were saying how terrible his contract would be. This year he had more spacing and the perception changed. How would he look on a rebuilding Thunder team with no talent? The fact of the matter is that he and Dre have high value for this team because of the way it is constructed. He would have no value for a rebuilding team making 24 million a year. I love Steven Adams, but he is NOT a player that you build around or retain in a rebuild. If Russ leaves... you tear it all down.
Yeah I know about salary floor and all that...... trade him away for bad contracts and picks. This franchise won't need the cap room anyway. No free agent would willingly come for 5-10 years.

Re: 2018 NBA Draft Thread
Kind of a wild left field pick for us but I'm seeing Trevon Duval in the mid to late 2nd in most mocks. I was real high on him coming into college and I think he could be a great buy low prospect. Unsurprisingly he tested really well at the combine. Could see Russ/Cheeks as good mentors for someone like him. I know he doesn't fit an immediate need and that we've either drafted (Hamilton) or signed (Dozier) big point guards recently but I like Duval's upside a bit more.
Melvin Frazier probably just had too good of a combine to fall to our range but I like his game. Super duper springy wing with a recently developed outside shot. Apparently was a defensive monster during the 5 on 5.
Chances are if we keep those late seconds neither will turn into anyone productive enough to even see the floor. Would much prefer the FO target one player they love in the 2nd and try to package our picks with cash for said dude.

I could see Presti avoiding the full rebuild and keeping Adams. I know I’ve said this 100 times but I really could see Presti trading russ to a place like Denver for Murray and their pick, plus filler. You rebuild around Murray, Ferguson, Adams and Denver pick. Hopefully get another good pick next year with our own and then have enough of a core to move forward. I don’t know if Presti would let the team tank for multiple seasons.

Grayson Allen anyone? I can't stand him, but he can shoot and measured well athletically. Doesn't feel like a presti guy, but that may be a good thing if we aren't tanking.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

Re: 2018 NBA Draft Thread
Looking for some guys who can get to the line, Josh Okogie looks like a presti guy and has a draw rate over .5
Keenan Evans is another guy that can get into the lane and can distribute
Aaron holiday if we grabbed a late first.
Alonzo Trier if we wanna take a flyer.

I think if anything he does one thing really well (shooting). I’m not a huge fan of his attitude, but I think he could contribute early.
He seems to have a really low ceiling, but decently high floor

I think I would prefer Khyri Thomas over alkins. If we draft either, I wonder if Ferguson can play the three or if they prefer to keep him at the two.

I’d take Khryi as well, but I think Alkins will possibly be available. Not so much with Khyri.
I’d take Khyri before players that are in the lottery, I’m that high on him.

I've barely followed the draft this year. What about DiVincenzo from Villanova? Where's he being mocked? That guy can flat out ball.

Likely late 1st. I like him, but think he is somewhat overvalued because of one insane game.

If I had a guess there's still a man crush on Alkins. Oddly agree Allen would be a win now late first.

I think he could be this years mitchell. If we can get him, I hope we move the necessary player to do it.

If possible, I would take both alkins and Thomas

I don’t think he is quite the take over trait like Mitchell has. I also don’t think he’s quite the athlete that Mitchell is.
I do think he is a better shooter, but not quite as good at creating.
Alkins is kinda Marcus Smart ish....
I have no idea what you’d move to get a first rounder. Maybe a team would do a pick swap with OKC for next year with the thought that OKC could be much worse if PG leaves.
Maybe Abrines and 2019 pick swap for a pick outside the lottery....

That's certainly possible (at least from my perspective since I haven't been able to study up on the draft this year).
Return to Oklahoma City Thunder
