I saw a lot of similarities between him and Devin booker !! They both demand the ball in crunch time.

Devin is going to want Ayton over Luka

Honestly, that's my biggest concern with Doncic is how he fits with Booker and Josh. We see time and time again great players on the same team that don't work well together. Hell, we've gone through it with the Dragic/Bledsoe/Thomas debacle. It doesn't even have to be positional similarities, but roles. Who is going to take the last shot? Who do we want to have the ball the most? Who is that "alpha dog"? Kyrie and LeBron split. KD and Russ split. Shaq and Kobe split. Even LeBron and Wade split.

People like to dig at Ayton's personality, but I think he fits well with Booker and Josh. He's not a "I need to destroy this player to show I'm better than them!" kind of personality, and he doesn't need to be.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

That's a 30 win team right there. Booker would demand a trade mid-season.

NO QUESTION draft DONIC, he is a big PG who can be dynamic with booker for the next 10 years. It's a guard and forward driven leage. Donic plays the game with such controll for such a young age, you cant coach that he has a chance to be a bigger version of Jason kid mixed with manu

Only teams with ridiculous lineups like having 2 all time greatest shooters and 4 all stars... Have shown it works... And a team with LeBron and 2 big men in Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson.

In the end Great teams are great because of the team talent...

Put Klay Thompson and Durant OR Curry next to Davis and he wins a championship... Same with someone like Cousins.

People have survivor biased based on seeing an All time great team like warriors having success...

Doncic can't defend either....

With Ayton he has defended the perimeter well.. Guarding stretch bigs ... The knock on him is he doesn't come down and help defend when players break into the paint... He stays on his man at the perimeter.

Some of that comes down to system, IMO. He may not have great defensive instincts, but if you tell him "when X happens, do Y" he'll do it - which is what he did all season at Arizona.

A rookie center who can't protect the rim (yet?) isn't going to get this team to the playoffs either. :dontknow:

Exactly.

I think that it's gonna be easy to fix that in his game. He has a great attitude and he is coachable, he will be a positive defender in the NBA IMO.

It will be Ayton and a veteran PG. Mark my words.

I don’t think Doncic/Ayton will have a problem deferring to Booker. Neither strike me as selfish or alpha to a fault.

People are forgetting something, with Doncic, the club, who will draft him, will get pure winner. And that’s the most important thing in any sport. And that’s something you won’t see in individual stats. Doncic just makes everybody around him better.

I don't know, Luka is a fiery personality. Doesn't mean he's a bad dude, but on the court, if he's yelling at Josh Jackson for not cutting correctly, etc., it could grate on some nerves.

Bob, are you even a Suns fan, or just a Luka fan?

I'm not trying to be insulting, but it seems you're far more enamored with Luka and his legacy than his actual fit with this team. Would you even be here if we didn't have the #1 pick?

That’s where being thin in the frontcourt hurt. We criticize Sean but he really had no choice to play Ristic with Ayton a lot.

Offensively, I think it paid off. At the cost of some defense, of course.

That's because he was a senior that year dominating...he knocked out the undefeated Towns/Booker/WCS Wildcats in the final four. I ignored his score anyway because I wanted to compare freshman and people around the same age.

I try to look at things with some context, though I know you'd like to throw it out to fit your agenda.

I've seen some other cherry picking too trying to discount stats but the stats are used the same way for everyone....and there may be some surprising results.

Seems to be what that said. Ayton also played much better on offense with him. Probably because the opposition had to put a big on Ristic as well. Though I'm sure they still put their best defender on Ayton.
