I would also be interested in Jackson +16 for #5
Y'all could get Doncic and your big in the top 5 and then your lineup would be more balanced.

If Doncic was there I'd probably do that. Not sure if the Suns would.

Having Jackson on the roster is what makes Doncic and Booker work, so no. The resulting roster is not good.

How does Jackson make Doncic and Booker work? Just for defense? There would be more options with Doncic than with Jackson...if you wanted you play a defensive smaller (point/shooting) guard who can be secondary ball handler and guard point guards more, spread floor better, etc. Then there is Warren.
I don't think any team would really trade the opportunity to draft Doncic for Josh Jackson though, so it's a moot point. Although Jackson's probably my favorite Sun, I'm most interested in the Suns being as good as possible.

Yes. Defense. Jackson's defensive versatility is essential to this roster.

It definitely will be if it comes to fruition.

Re: The Ayton & Doncic Conspiracy Thread
Warren, Chandler, pick 16,31,59, and Phoenix 2019 1st round pick (throw in Milwaukee 1st round pick we own if need be) for #4 and Chandler Parsons.
Take Doncic at 4.
Take Ayton at 1.
Parsons and Knight money comes off books in summer of 2020, just in time to extend Jackson and Bender (assuming he becomes a Pau Gasol lite type stretch 4). Bender is a key to making this all work with his passing shooting stretching the defense out to make room for Ayton and Booker driving lanes)
Doncic
Booker
Jackson
Bender
Ayton
Doncic guards 3's, jackson guards 1's.
Key would be convincing Doncic, Ayton, jackson, bender to make their numbers work when we'd need to extend them. That team would win multiple championships if Sarver were willing to pay the luxury tax year after year and we'd have a decent bench.

This would be great but I only see Memphis as a trading partner if either Doncic says he won't play there or we take Doncic #1 ourselves. If he's there at #4 and willing to play for them, he's the perfect pick for them, giving them someone at a position of need who can help immediately and also be the future of their franchise. I see Memphis more as a target if the BPAs on the board at #4 are bigs and longer-term projects.

If Doncic is there at 4...
Warren, Dudley, 16th, Suns 2019 top1 protected pick, Bucks pick
for
Parsons and 4th
Would love to get Luka but adding anything more would be overpay and may end very bad for the Suns.
Very very little chance something like this happens anyway.

Re: The Ayton & Doncic Conspiracy Thread
I used to be ok with drafting Ayton #1, and hoping Luka falls because of his threats to stay in Europe - We then trade up and end up with both. I've changed my mind.
I just don't want to risk the chance of losing Luka. He's just too good, and fits so well with McD's vision and Kokoskov's coaching. He could potentially play 4 positions.
Ayton's a rare talent. I admit it - Someone that big and athletic has so much potential. My problem is that this is all banking on him learning how to provide anchor defense from the Center position. We must be honest - He may never develop the defensive instincts.
I would rather draft Luka #1 and find a center that can play some defense. With a core of Luka, Devin, and Josh, we wouldn't need much offense from the center position, mostly defense and rebounding.
For those critics: Luka is the most ready to step in a contribute right away. HE IS ATHLETIC and the defensive assignments could easily switch between the 3 players allowing Josh to guard the quicker player. If a quick point guard becomes a problem, then just add a 3&D guard to the lineup.

Trade with Atlanta. They are rebuilding. They are amassing assets right now.
16, 31, 59, Milwaukee pick, Suns 19 #1 pick (unprotected or top 3 protected) and TJ Warren.
for #3
I would go for the top 3 protection, but I might gamble and unprotect it. Now you have a core of Ayton, Jackson, Doncic, and Booker going forward.
I love TJ, but Doncic is better at, well, everything over TJ. TJ might be a better mid-range magician and finisher. But passing, shooting, rebounding, ball-handling, and even defending. Doncic is better. Its the versatility that is really intriguing.
I see a team like Memphis more likely to make this trade. I could see them trying to "reload on the fly" and a guy like Warren could help them with their scoring woes to stay somewhat competitive for a couple more seasons. The picks would also help them ease into a full rebuild when Gasol is no longer the player I still think he is. I don't see ATL looking to move their high pick since they aren't looking to be even halfway competitive for a couple of seasons and they are looking for highest potential now. Given the latest report about the Kings and Hawks potentially passing on Luka, I think dealing with Memphis makes more sense to me with Doncic possibly being available there. The only hold up for this trade with Memphis is if they want Luka in which case, they wouldn't deal with us
I didn't see this before I posted. Totally agree. I think a deal could be had with Memphis if they don't want Doncic. Question is, do we blow our assets on him (meaning bye bye trading for a potential star)?
I almost feel like we'd benefit more drafting someone like JJJ who is a better defender.
As sexy as a lineup including Booker, Doncic, and Ayton would look, our defense would be quite awful.
Then you should take JJJ with #1 (

Hopefully Davon Reed becomes that 3&D guard. Will be interesting to see how he looks in summer league this year.

or draft Doncic #1 - then offer trade to 4 or 5 and get JJJ or Bamba.

I wouldnt trade Jackson at all. We need at least 3 all-stars to move forward but it is Jackson's defense that covers for Doncic or Booker. Without him the value of both Booker and Doncic both drop.
Just say no to idiots!!

I wouldn't trade him because I just love that mofo. Josh Jackson's a dawg.

I'm in on the big offer to get the MEM #4, but it won't enable getting Ayton & Dončić...Grizz would want him.
Right now it's take Luka at 1 and trade up for the big for me.
Depending on the Suns' pecking order as far as the bigs...JJJ? Carter? Bamba? Williams? I hope McD gets deals in place to move up and grab one after selecting Dončić on draft day.
Tomorrow? I might feel differently.

I don't understand everyone claiming Jackson is good at defense. He has potential but so does Luka.

This is very true. Many folks have counted the Jackson egg well before any fluffy feathers have peeked out. Really his advanced stats last year were horrendous. Shooting and defense both need significant improvement.
