I think Shai has a chance to be taken at 6 by the Magic.

:o

A small chance. Based on draft history and team needs, he fits the bill and our FO has shown that they're not afraid to reach for their man

He does fit a need, but I think the Magic are much more likely to trade down with the Clippers for their two picks and take Shai there if that's their man.

I would prefer that as well, I don't know who the Clippers would want at 6 though

Rumors are that they really like Michael Porter Jr.

That would be a good trade for both sides since Chicago is also interested in him. I would be estatic if the Magic came out of the draft with SGA and WCJ

Are we talking 12/13 for 7? In a vacuum that sounds fair but for this particular draft, I'm not sure I really love anyone in that range, think I'd rather stick to 7. We really need that upside.

I actually think there's really good value in that Clippers' range. Depending on who's available at your pick, I'd probably take that deal.

I'm looking at my board and mock and I feel like it'd end up being something like Sexton/R.Williams/Zhaire/Walker/SGA. If you're really lucky then maybe someone like Young/Mikal/Miles drops to 12, then the deal would be worth it imo, but if not one of those guys, then I'm passing I think.

It'll most likely be something like Josh Okogie and Jontay Porter.

If Mo Bamba isn't available for the Bulls, I think I'm passing.

I was thinking that too. Their GM is the Bucks former GM, and he loves length. Why not draft a need that happens to be 6'6. Sell him as Penny Hardaway 2.0 or something to your fanbase.

What the Magic not need is unreasonable hype around their prospect. Not exactly a great environment to grow if you put this kind of burden on a player who should spend the first years in the NBA adjusting to the league, developing his body, his shot and slowly growing into a bigger role. If you trade down, you have to preach patience and not artificially hype your guys up.

I'm not sure NBA teams have ever had Zhaire as high as some draftniks have had him, so maybe he doesn't qualify as a faller. It would be very surprising to me if he goes top 15.

I think Robert Williams probably falls out of the lottery

Right now Heurter is already a potential late lottery pick if he keeps his name in the draft. Okogie is probably mid 20's and Frazier is a late first lock.
That being said I think from now until the draft a couple of risers would be Melton and Knox.
a couple of sliders would be Young and Musa

What we really need around here is not a "great physical prospect with skills that should develop and a good shooting form that could project outside of 3 pt line"....we need a player who HAS those skills-even if he's smaller. If they pass on Trae for another "measurement star", there will be riots. :noway:

The Hornets will take SGA if he's there at 11, so if the Magic want to trade back for him they should look to make a deal with Charlotte.

Agreed. I believe the Magic need someone to make a difference on offense in the worst way. If available, I'd definitely gamble on Young if I had a say. But if you're going a different path then the team better tries to relieve some of the pressure instead of adding more fuel to the fire.

I have kind of struggled with which direction the Magic will go....on one hand there is John Hammond who is known for prioritizing length and athleticism.....but the team is in desperate need for a name that will sell tickets and excite the fan base....I think the latter wins out if Trae Young is on the board @ #6.
