He also has strong ties with Jason Kidd. Hopefully you won't be subjected to that. I know when the Bucks were interviewing for a new GM last year and Stefanski was one of the leading candidates, Bucks fans were on suicide watch. Hopefully it ends well for you guys.

Re: Ed Stefanski Hired as Senior Advisor
That makes sense. A team president and GM are kind of redundant when it comes to the basketball side of things... as long as the GM is capable enough to handle everything.

Interesting.
The Pistons' new front office, centered around Stefanski, will look closely at hiring a rising front-office executive in a general manager-type role, league sources said. Brooklyn Nets assistant general manager Trajan Langdon met with Detroit officials to discuss such a high-level role and will remain a serious candidate, league sources said.
Television analyst Brent Barry, a 14-year NBA veteran and two-time champion, is a front-runner to land in a complementary role in the Pistons' front office. Popular ex-Pistons player Tayshaun Prince -- who is completing his first year in the Memphis front office -- will be a strong candidate to join Stefanski in Detroit too, league sources said.
Interesting.

So basically we get 3-4 more years of failed retreads spinning their wheels, then we'll get to "Process" this thing.

On the coaching end, yeah if it's Casey. Probably will be.
Seems like they're doing something different with the front office though. Langdon, or maybe Battier, could end up as the GM. Stefanski is in-place to advise and not really take on real PBO responsibilities. Hopefully that's the way it would work out at least.

Only positive is maybe Casey will bring Stackhouse with him and he can get groomed for the eventual role.

Re: Ed Stefanski Hired as Senior Advisor
I don’t mind Tay in a front office role as long as it’s not at the top, and that just looks like speculation anyway.
The rest? We’ll have to wait and see what happens. Stefanski isn’t going to be our GM or PBO. He’s being brought in because of his connections. We’ve interviewed Battier twice, I think there’s a strong chance he’s still in the mix for GM. Stefanski has probably been unofficially talking with Gores and making suggestions for weeks.
As for coach, I’m not in love with the idea of Casey but we’ll see how it all plays out. Casey might not be interested.

I started praying this was the case when I saw the tweets.
We really need Hammon, or someone new that’s going to come in with the right mentality and approach to the game. Not some old and washed up grandpa that is simply being hired for his connections and “experience”. I think the Hammond hire would instantly add a dimension of interest given she would be the first female head coach excluding Eddie of course

I think it was the idea that Stefanski would keep Kidd around that made it a really, really bad possibility.

Heck. He might get the Raptors job.
You don’t hire a coach and immediately start grooming his replacement within your staff.

Re: Ed Stefanski Hired as Senior Advisor
So we don't have a president and probably at least weeks away from having a GM. How in the hell can anything start happening on a coach before we have a GM? Why in the hell would a GM want a coach that he didnt pick? Why in the hell would anyone want that? I hate this organization...GORES NEEDS TO SELL.

At least the next time the PIstons will be good again I'll be old enough to take my 2 year old son to the game and buy him and his son a beer.
