To at least get the game up to three points. Imagine if he missed and curry drains a half court shot.

I am glad to see that the team that beat us, the Rockets, are effectively competing with Golden State. If the Rockets win three or more games against GS, that leaves us a solid tier two playoff team imo (with cap space to get better) rather than a tier three playoff team, which would have been the case if Golden State had swept the Rockets.

Agreed. I hate rooting for the Rox but I dislike Warriors even more. Interesting how Warriors have pretty much neutralized Capella and snuffed out the P&R from Harden to him. Honestly, Looney is doing a better job on him than Gobert was able to and I think that has to do with his better mobility and athleticism. Plus, Warriors wing defense is clearly a notch above the Jazz. This series is once again reminding me the Jazz are still short a superstar and more wings who can hit threes. Maybe DM becomes that superstar but clearly the Jazz have to have a more consistent "showtime" ability to shoot over the defense with the long ball. I think Warriors are the better team overall with 4 guys who can take over a game, and especially KD, who is impossible to guard.

The Rockets winning is good for the NBA, that is the only reason I am rooting for them, I can't stand Harden or Paul.

Ditto. That's ultimately why I'm rooting for Celts/CLE - neither which will have a prayer better than 1-4 against either Rox or Warriors. If anything this season has proven its GSW and Rox looking down on the rest of the league by a decent margain and in a tier of their own.

So, if CLE and HOU are in the finals, does that lessen the likelihood that Lebron leaves the Cavs? If so, I might be for it, as I would hate to see the West become any stronger.

I really don't think LeBron is coming West, if he doesn't stay in Cleveland he will go to Philly.

Reluctantly rooting for the Rockets as well. That could force the Dubs management to mix things up. I always root for the underdog if I don’t have a real dog in the race. And now that you guys mention it, I agree it might lesson LBJ going there.

I still think he goes to Houston though. Makes the most sense.

Too many ball handlers, Philly makes more sense.

I greatly dislike all 4 teams and will be happy to see any of the 4 eliminated. I can't even root for any team. Not even a tiny bit.

LeBron has said he wants to play off ball. He isn’t getting any younger.

Who peed on your parade? We at least have the two best teams in the league as constituted battling it out for the WCF to watch. The finals are gonna be a letdown for sure. For me as a Jazz fan it is must watch basketball as it reinforces the bar any other WC team needs to overcome to actually compete with these guys. Thank god I wasn't a Blazer fan this year...they got so worked and they were the 3rd seed - I'd consider blowing up the team and sending Dame over to the Jazz, for sure, pair him up with his little bro DM.

Agree. Totally shocked if he comes out West. He has avoided that his entire career and not likely to change soon. I think he could def take Philly to the finals, though. He is that good right now.

The reason I think Lebron has stayed away from the WC is the night-to-night grind is higher and he is obviously a guy who saves his legend for the playoffs. If he played in the WC, given is competitive nature, he would end up burning hard in the regular season going up against guys near his level far more frequently. Not saying the guy isn't legit HOF and player of his generation at all, but a lot of his career has been riding stacked teams in an obviously leastern conference.

All NBA teams have been announced. As usual, there are arguments to be made about who deserves what. LeBron breaks Karl Malone's record (and some other guy who was tied with Malone) for NBA First Team nods. Gobert finished just out of the Third team, and Mitchell received some votes as well.

First Team
LeBron James
James Harden
Anthony Davis
Damian Lillard
Kevin Durant

Second Team
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Russell Westbrook
Joel Embiid
LaMarcus Aldridge
DeMar DeRozan

Third Team
Stephen Curry,
Victor Oladipo
Karl-Anthony Towns
Jimmy Butler
Paul George

Other players receiving votes, with point totals: Chris Paul (Houston), 54; Rudy Gobert (Utah), 51; Kyrie Irving (Boston), 42; Ben Simmons (Philadelphia), 36; Al Horford (Boston), 32; Nikola Jokic (Denver), 28; Andre Drummond (Detroit), 7; Clint Capela (Houston), 6; Draymond Green (Golden State), 6; Kyle Lowry (Toronto), 3; Steven Adams (Oklahoma City), 2; Donovan Mitchell (Utah), 2; Klay Thompson (Golden State), 2; Trevor Ariza (Houston), 1; DeMarcus Cousins (New Orleans), 1; Dwight Howard (Charlotte), 1; Kevin Love (Cleveland), 1; Kristaps Porzingis (New York), 1.

The idea LeBron wouldn’t come west because of competition is a really bad argument IMO.

IF he comes to the Rockets he comes to a team that has two ball dominant players who can take a gigantic load off of his responsibility to make plays. CP3 and Harden are easily in the top 10 of guys you want to play off ball of. And they might just be 1 and 2 in that category. LeBron could continue to average close to 20 PPG just on spot ups and cuts to the rim. The regular season would be a joke to that team. That could cruise to a top 1-3 seed while barely trying. They would only have to play defense half of their games and in those games they would probably only have to clamp down in the fourth quarter if things are getting close.

Houston is a perfect landing spot.

Plus he would either make it to the WCF and lose, or win the finals for at least a few more years. That helps his legacy. I don’t see the East winning a ring for at least 2-3 years. And that’s if Boston or Philly take some pretty large leaps and it’s possible it might be more like 4-5 years before a team from the eat wins a ring.

I’m feeling better about my prediction that Houston would win the championship this year. But CP3 going down is gonna hurt their chances. Hate Houston, but I really would rather see a new team win.
