May 25-27 Bad team in a slump vs Good team on a roll

Post#1 » by dagger » Fri May 25, 2018 3:44 am

Jays - Phillies
Save me from this hell (Actually, hell is the next series against Boston with the best record in MLB)

Friday, May 25, 7:05 pm
Sam Caviglio (1-0, 0.93 ERA) vs Zach Eflin (1-0, 1.56 ERA)

Saturday, May 26, 4:05 pm
Jaime Garcia (2-3, 6.28 ERA) vs Aaron Nola (6-2, 2.37 ERA)

Sunday, May 27, 1:35 pm
Jay Happ (6-3, 3.97 ERA) vs Nick Pivetta (4-2, 3.23 ERA)

Aaron Nola is a pretty good example of what can happen if your team really sucks badly, as the Phillies did in 2013, and you have good scouting and make the right selection. Nola was drafted seventh overall, and made it to the bigs a year after being drafted. Dangerous dude. 9.08 fWAR. (The Jays drafted 9th and 11th in the first round, and ended up with the 300-year-old ghost of Troy Tulowitski and a minor league catcher with a bum shoulder to show for it.)

Thread title scared me. Thought we were playing the Astros or something.

Dare I say sweep? Not in our favour though.

Eh...we'll maybe steal a game or 2. That's a monumental achievement in and of itself.

Lets see how much fight this team has left... that last series had to have been demoralizing.

The Phillies are sweeping us and we get closer to being eliminated from that 2nd wild card spot.

Travis needing a day off pushes Solarte to 2b instead of shortstop and urshela at short, Diaz and Tulowitzki need to return. What a mess.

I have never seen Gaviglio hit, but who would put money on the notion he's a better hitter than some of our regulars?

Better than Morales hopefully, and can reach 2nd base on a potential double instead of admiring his hit he gets once every 20 at bats.

And wouldn't you know it. Sam Gaviglio = Babe Ruth confirmed.

that was stupid.

innning percolating nicely. we are up on the scoreboard, and shouldn't be trying to scratch out a run. pitch count getting stratospheric.,,,,, time for patience. and we risk a strike em out throw em out double play....

nice call, Gibby
