The alpha move is to make a thread for it and ignore the post.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
All that garbage Darren Till was talking about being a light heavyweight fighting small welterweights makes him look even douchier than normal now that he missed weight by 5 lbs.
Ugh, let's hope the 2018 trend of weight missers brutally KOing their opponents ends with this fight.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
UFC has to do something about the weight missing issue they have going on. We aren't seeing fighters miss weight by half a pound or anything like that, we are seeing them miss weight 4-5+pounds over. They're doing this because they would rather just take the 30% purse cut because they know the benefits of a win will more than make up for that. These fighters are missing on purpose to get an advantage.

The problem is UFC incentivizes exactly what you're saying. That bald guy who nobody had ever heard of who KOed Lamas misses weight badly then his next fight is a main event on big fox. Romero misses weight and still gets a title shot next. Dern has been incentivized to miss weight her entire career, obviously.

Yup. And Till knows a win over wonder boy is probably going to put him next in line for a title. So why not take the purse penalty knowing that chances are if you win this fight you're going to get a title fight. That's just an easy smart business/financial decision for Till.
I don't know what the UFC can do though. They can't just cancel a fight because of it, because that would be horrible for business. What would happen to this card if they had to scrap this fight? Neil Magney vs a no body becomes the main event?
My only guess would be maybe no title or main event/Co main event fight right after a fight you miss weight. That would at least take some more of the incentive out of it. Probably not enough, but I think it would be a start.

Well, exactly, don't reward them in their next fight. I get that they want a C-ME or ME to continue but they can easily punish a fighter w/r their next fight.
As you've all said, Till has little downside to risking a crazy cut, hoping the pounds come off easy, but then giving up if it seems like it might detract his performance.

Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Well their current strategy seems to be to throw fighters under the bus who refuse, or even question, fighting overweight opponents. Surprisingly, that doesn't seem to be working.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Im honestly not even a just bleeder as far as I know but all this hugging and fist bumping and hand shaking these two are doing is getting old to me. It's fine sometimes but man is it necessary every round multiple times per round? This is a fight.

Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Disgusting hometown decision. Sadly, it’s always hard to feel remorse for Stephen Thompson because he never seems to fight for the win, that’s how I felt after the Woodley fights too. I know the karate based style relies on point fighting, but you need to be more aggressive and not solely seek for counters. Machida was very much the same way at one point too.
And I’m sick of fighters always giving high fives and hugs and making it feel like sparring sessions. Yancy and Cerrone was the same thing. You’re in the main event, just stop. Save it for before and after.
Also; this was thread worthy

I thought Wonderboy won live but to me it's like Arlovski/Schaub. Just don't care enough to argue it. Lol.
Itll be interesting to see if they include fist bumps in the strike counts in order to inflate the fight stats.

Btw I love Bisping on the fight show commentary. He’s a good character for it.

22 of 24 media members scored it for Wonderboy on mmadecisions. (So far?)

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Cheaters never prosper, except for 9 times out of 10 in MMA. He misses weight badly (sounds like he didn't even try). He was no selling Wonderboy's solid contacts. And at the end of rounds he was throwing his hands up, also to influence judges. Knew he was going to win, especially given it was his hometown and fans were overreacting to everything he did. Thought Wonderboy took the first 3 rounds though in spite of being under-sized.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
I didn't bother with the rest of the card but it sounds like that wasn't the only questionable decision on the card.
