HOW IS THIS NOT A FOUL?!?

Because Green didn’t foul him and Bell was an established defender who used the principle of verticality to avoid a foul from a smaller player who jumped from within the lane toward said established and taller defender?

What are you watching??? Green hacked him across the arm and Bell clearly is jumping towards Gordon while fading out to the baseline in-air. He clearly is going straight up and down.

Looks like Green blocks the shot at the top of Gordon’s shot (EJ wasn’t a shooter after that happened) after a wild double clutch shot attempt against taller defenders to me. Refs won’t lose any sleep over that one.

It obviously helps a lot when GSW can just commit obvious fouls on every 3 attempt without getting a foul called on them.

Yup stepped under harden on 3s and there was a 3 harden shot where dray touched his hand after release (same thing that Gordon did to young in g6)

Yes.

But Houston had clean looks too and you can't blame that on the refs.

No doubt. Hou was obviously abysmal after the game got taken away from them. But that should’ve never happened. Basketball is very fickle, once the tidal wave starts, it can overwhelm.

It wasn't taking away from them.

They missed open shots, while Durant and Curry made there (most of their looks were tough shots). Houston is mentally weak team if a few bad calls caused them to meltdown like this.

Wow

I hate random stats out of context.

It doesn't factor in things like opponent's pressure, time pressure, game pressure, confidence, fatigue etc.

I mean there's a 1 in 11.5 million chance of getting attacked by a shark but if you live in the middle of the country and never go close to the coast and stay away from aquariums your whole life there's a 0% chance you'll be attacked. If you are a professional surfer like Mick Fanning your chances of being attacked by a shark increases significantly.

These kind of stats are meaningless to me.

Yep. Just a few years ago (2015) it was conventional wisdom that “jumpshooting teams don’t win championships.” Then Curry happened and everybody forgot that. It turns out there’s only one Steph Curry. If you don’t have the GOAT shooter on your team, you get tight in the playoffs, especially in Game 7s. It’s a real thing.

That still applies to this day. Its just that Curry has Klay and Durant to share the 'jumpshooting' load ... and Durant to close out games by being a great ISO player. Warriors are the most stacked team in NBA history taking into account their fit for the style of play prevalent in the league.

It's a statistical odd. There is no further context needed with a stat like this. The environment doesn't need to be changed, it's the same sport/game. It's not the same as comparing a pro surfer in the water 7 hours a day vs you once a month etc. Whatever bone you have to pick with the stat, the point of him sharing it was basically just to show how incredibly improbable it was. I'm sure it's an NBA record of consecutive misses, which PROVES how rare of an anomaly it is.

The Rockets took 'em to 7 games, that wasn't suppose to happen.

He was arguably the best player of the series along with KD.

Iso Kevin did the Warriors dirty in Games 4 and 5 though. Although once Curry and Thompson get going though like in Games 6 and 7 he can pile on with some "unguardable" shots of his own.

Iso Kevin was what HOU's anti-motion defense was giving them. Being able to switching on everything allowed HOU to stay home and face-guard every player except to contest a shot at the rim, making every pass a high TO risk. That worked great until GSW was told that they were allowed to set blatant moving screens again.

They didn't just set blatant moving screens for 3-point shots, either. They do it on drives, too. Did you see Curry drive to the basket in the 4th when Draymond just flat backed Ariza out of the play with the blatant moving screen? LOL. No defense can work if GSW are allowed to move players out of the way like that.

Pick any vet star player that gets injured frequently and put your money on him.

I'll go with AD. Then again, it might be Paul again. smh...

Moral of the story, old guys get hurt after game #100 of the season. Depth and youth and playing style account for a lot.

Iso KD is what Kerr called up before the game and what was presented to the Warriors when their "other" MVP was getting face guarded by Rockets' stringent defense. I see guys like Tucker hustling beyond the 3 pt line chasing 3 pt shooters...

Game 4 and 5 were only 3 pt and 4 pt games... Game 4, Curry was 10/26 for 28 pts with his usual defense and game 5 was the game where Draymond was turning the ball over multiple times and ultimately gave it away in the last possession.

As bad as isolation are and look, that's how championships are won because teams usually take away each other's strengths. Every team knows each other tendencies and sets.
Professional sports is idolatry.
