Mike D’Antoni does this to himself though, 7 man rotations in the playoffs is stupid, he should have at least done 8.

I think it's pretty clear why he cut the rotation. He really only played 6 guys tonight, but he only had 4 who can play. Yes their players are tired, but they have no chance winning with the other players on their roster.
I've got nothing but respect for MDA and Morey. They gave the team a great chance of winning, but things just didn't go their way. If CP3 never gets hurt, or the refs don't jobs the, or the players didn't miss 27 three's in a row they may have taken down the most stacked team ever.

Very happy that Houston went out due to a combination of injuries, incredibly poor shooting and referees swallowing their whistle. Awful team to watch and it makes me happy knowing they won't win the championship this season and most likely won't next season given they will have a number of roster changes to make in order to keep Capela, Harden and Paul together.

Joe Johnson could have played more though.

I do really think with a healthy Paul Houston would have closed the series out in one of the last 2 games, maybe a 4-2.
An incredible feat against the Warriors, and a testament that Warriors are beatable even at full force, no matter what sweep people are predicting in the finals (maybe making excuses in advance for Lebron?).
And it also says a lot about the Jazz. We are close to be competing, I hope we close the gap the next two offseasons

Re: Around the NBA, Season 2017-2018
Rockets were 5-30 on open 3’s last night. That is equally sad and impressive at the same time.
They were a truly elite team that was injured, ran out of gas, and didn’t play well for game 7. I feel like they had the strategic advantage over the Warriors, but things just didn’t go their way.
The Jazz should take notes on building a team with great synergy.

I would have loved a Hou-C's finals.
Just to see what defensive and offensive adjustements Stevens could make against Houston with relative role players. Because only Warriors can win the way the have won, with 4 all stars

Re: Around the NBA, Season 2017-2018
I don't know how people can blame D'Antoni or Harden or anybody on the Rockets really after this series. They just faced one of the best teams in the history of the game, a team that's likely going to have at least 3 HoFers(all of them in their primer right now) and had it not been for the CP3 injury, they were well on their way to pull of the ultimate shocker.
Props to Morey for building this team and not allowing the talking heads to dissuade him from... you know... trying to build the best team to compete instead of laying down and dying for the next 3-4-5 years(this was what most experts were suggesting - that the rest of the teams should just give up and start building teams for 3-4 years in the future because noone's gonna touch GSW in that timespan.
Props for D'Antoni who almost nullified the advantage of 4 all stars vs 1 that the Warriors had in that series. Harden didn't have the best series, but lets not forget just how much was on his shoulders especially after CP3 went down. He pretty much lead his team ALONE vs the best team ever to 2 15-point leads in elimination games for the Warriors. He couldn't close but it was obvious that he was gassed by the end of those games.
Also... props to the NBA refs for fighting valiantly for keeping the status quo and the Warriors dominance. What an abomination of a reffed game that was yesterday. I'm usually against the BS foul drawing that Harden engages in, but it's more of a stylistic objection... all those fouls on 3s were legit fouls... those were 2 x3 in the first half + 4pt play in the second+ some brutalizing of EG in the paint.

If the game is called fairly I think the outcome is different.

Amen. Great way to describe their success.

I think Rockets win with Chris in 7. But had we had Ricky R Who knows. Would've could've and should've. We know what it feels like to be missing your leader. Sucks. Ricky was and is our leader just like CP3. Chit happens.

Best story of the year

My theory: Hinkie was the source who leaked the info. Philly seizes this opportunity to fire Colangelo and bring in David Griffin. LeBron -> Philly.

Re: Around the NBA, Season 2017-2018
Here's Colangelo's statement:
[bolded part by me]
Something damning - the ringer inquired about 2 of the accounts but didn't mentioned the other 3 they had. And it was those 3 that went down hours after the inquiry. To me the conspiracy angle(that it's someone trying to set up Colangelo) is dead on arrival. There is no way the conspirator would have known when the inquiry was made and what accounts the Ringer inquired about. So this leaves either Colangelo or someone close to him(family member or friend) defending him on twitter and leaking information that's not been released previously - some of it confidential(medicals of players, etc).
More damning:
-The Ringer inquired about 2 accounts - the one Colangelo confirmed is his and the Eric Jr account.
-It wasn't those 2 accounts that went dark after the inquiry - it was the OTHER 3 accounts... which makes perfect sense if it's Colangelo trying to hide his tracks. He knew it would look suspicious if he shut down the accounts he was just asked about... but he didn't know the Ringer had the other 3 accounts and shut them down thinking he's doing it before they find them, too.
To me it's incredibly obvious - it's either Bryan Colangelo or someone close to him(like wife, son, father, close friend)... I have close to zero doubt this is the case and Bryan Colangelo just lied in an official public statement about it.
Like many of my colleagues in sports, I have used social media as a means to keep up with the news. While I have never posted anything whatsoever on social media, I have used the @Phila1234567 Twitter account referenced in this story to monitor our industry and other current events. This storyline is disturbing to me on many levels, as I am not familiar with any of the other accounts that have been brought to my attention, nor do I know who is behind them or what their motives may be in using them.

If Colangelo is fired, they should bring back Hinkie to complete The Process. It's only right.

re: Rockets 27 missed three point shots in a row
Certainly not suggesting that a heavy reliance on the three is not a valid strategy, but wasn't it old school Jerry Sloan who once said something along the lines that you can live or die with the three and that he preferred to avoid the latter possibility by not making the three the primary weapon in the offense? Well the Rockets certainly died with the three ball in game seven. I hope this gave old man Sloan a little chuckle.
Of course substituting some mid range shots from CP3, had he been available, could have made a meaningful difference.
