Seems to me that you guys could use some seasoned veterans who'd be willing to help the young ones develop (i.e., Reddick for the Sixers) instead.

For Miami, we've got no bonafide star on our team, and a bunch of good talent all with similar contracts, and no direction. We will be able to compete for a playoff spot, but losing to a team on the other end of the roster building spectrum should open some eyes. You need top end talent. For our team, I'd even be willing to package any of our young trio with first rounders to try and crack the top ten if the right player was there (Mikal, Porter Jr.). That would be my goal in moving Hassan and Dragic. Get 16 back, package with one of our youth to move up. With cap space, facilitate for Faried and 14 from Denver (Woj bomb). Package that pick and a player to move up. That's me though. That's not Riley. Too much of a gamble. I'd be looking at it with an eye towards really building the team over the next two drafts, then have a resurgence.

I am all about the draft. We are going to have to give Booker a max soon, and players get overpaid as you know. Also, as we all know here, you're likely only about to really hit on about half of your lottery picks.

I think much of our forum would rather trade 16 this year for a vet, and for me, it depends on who that vet is of course. It's fairly rare picks get traded in the week or two before the draft so I expect we keep it and maybe it's used in a draft day deal. Assuming e take Ayton 1, for me, it really depends on who will be there at 16. While my ideal scenario would be picking a cross between Donovan Mitchell and Lonzo Ball at 16 with better shooting that's unlikely. I think I'd prefer trading it for Dragic than giving like a 4/100 max to Gordon with our cap space.

This team desperately needs that vet PG.

As for your thoughts about trading into the top 10, it seems like every team wants to trade up into the top 10 and the first couple of teams outside the top 2 want to trade down, but likely remain in the top 10. I think it might be pretty costly and competitive to get in there for most teams.

Book tweeted a picture with him and KAT. I think he’s hinting at something...

I saw on reddit that Gambo apparently said the Suns will try to trade up to nab Michael Porter or Trae Young. Suggested the 16, 31, and next years unprotected pick may be enough to do it

I would include the Bucks pick too if it meant getting Young.

I don't mind trading in these future assets (picks/young players) for something good now. It was always part of McD's "plan" to stock up on asset for when an opportunity to trade them in for a star/good player presents itself. I'm with BW, I don't mind moving #16 in some sort of package for Dragic but while our pantry is full when it comes to youth/picks, I don't think we're at the stage where we should be cashing it all in unless the player is a star in the making or has real star potential. A king's ransom type offer for the #2 pick (Luka) has been discussed on here and it really needs to be that caliber of player (age, talent, potential) for us to be making that kind of move. In Dragic's case, I'm fine with #16 since I do think we need a vet who can still play at a high level and I don't like what's available in FA or in the draft at that point. Although my prefer is still to try and move up with that #16 but if it falls through, I'd look at Dragic

Young has lost a bit of luster for me after Houston started targeting Steph on offense and going to town on him. Steph is bigger and a more savvy defender and even he couldn't really do much to slow down the Rockets. Steph did pretty much give it all back on the offensive end but it just makes me rethink a Young/Booker back court.

I would too in a heartbeat ... MPJ could be the best player in the draft if healthy

Haha, no, I'd expect there to be picks coming back. Returning our picks makes sense. You guys are about maxed on the amount of draft talent you need to bring in anyways. Booker, Jackson, and the first. Grief, that's plenty, yet you still have another half dozen, lol. On our side, we're lucky Riley hasn't shipped out all of our picks. The best part of team right now is Winslow, Rich, and Bam, outside of Kelly O. Picks and cap space. That'd be plenty.

The Suns will not trade the 2021 pick back to Miami for Dragic. Maybe 16.

Nash won his 2nd MVP at 32 iirc.

I have a question. Is there a source, that we are interestet in moving up to get Young or Porter?
I never saw Porter play. Could he play the 4? Because i don't understand the interest. We have JJ and TJ at the 3. So what kind of Player ist Porter?

I don't think they have to be moved together. The Heat board has been going back and forth about Dallas being a good Whiteside destination due to prior interest and cap space. We'd pretty much be cutting him loose though in that scenario, if we wanted cap space.

As for Dragic to PHX. Couldn't you guys just absorb his contract? Don't you have space?

The issue with just a plain Dragic to Phoenix is, what would you want? I'm not sure the Suns are at the stage where you pay a high price for Dragic.

In all honesty, I like Goran as a player, but he's already proven he cares more about being the guy than being the 3rd or 4th option. On Miami he is still the man. Oddly, on PHX he will not be. Booker will be and the 1st pick, whoever that is, will be the top 2 options. So my first question would be if he would be okay being the 3rd wheel this go around.

Next, you get to his salary, which is still overpaid. On top of that, taking him may hurt our future Miami pick by helping Miami out. I'd almost be tempted to ask for a pick to take Goran frankly.

We've tossed this idea around a bit too. The most common options seem to be our picks back or Warren. I've been a proponent of both for various reasons. With our picks back we can try and refresh this rag tag roster of ours. With Warren, we've got another young talent who can at least get you a bucket, something we consistently find ourselves running short on when it matters.

Knight doesn't interest me in the slightest. Would rather look at what we can do now to flip this roster as fast as possible. I don't want a 5 year rebuild. I believe if we play it right, we could do it in 2 years, and then be a prime destination again for FAs.

Why on earth would Phoenix, after losing 2 years of prime Dragic, be content to simply trade the picks back for him now that Miami is in a worse bargaining position?

Warren, due to age, is also more likely to be a part of Phx's future regardless of Josh Jackson being there.

Tyreke Evans? Goran Dragic? Marcus Smart?

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone. How are any of those players good pickups for this team? I'd rather resign Payton over all of those guys.

Man, Porter is totally in my blind spot. I was huge on him last summer as a prospect. Doesn't have the length I want in a wing. Handle is questionable. But damn if in ten years he couldn't be in the convo for best player in this draft.

Probably should be in the draft thread but he reminds me of a more athletic Rashard Lewis. In his prime, he was a 20/7 guy on great shooting volumes and efficiency. Wouldn't break the bank for him

Lewis in his prime would be a max player in the way the game is played today.
