Knight could have an Oladipo type resurgence with Miami.

Oladipo was kicked around by teams like Orlando and OKC till he got traded to his hometown Indiana and decided to take basketball and his game more seriously in the summer.

Knight has been kicked around by teams like Detroit and Milwaukee so maybe getting traded to his hometown Miami could lead to him taking basketball more seriously as well.

Even the greatest Heat player of all time is a fan of Brandon Knight.

Nash was 30 I believe when he came back. Dragic is 32

Nash won his 2nd MVP at 32 iirc.

I hope you are not suggesting what I think you are suggesting, because Nash had 4 AS Gms, 4 All-NBAs, 5 Seasons-Top10 in Assts (Twice 1st), and as you mentioned, 2 MVPs by age 32.

Dragic has...1 AS Gm, 1 All-NBA, 1 Season-Top10 in Assts (7th) and 0 MVPs...so, nothing alike.

EDIT: And if you are not suggesting it...good on you. This is for anyone else who might. 8-)

Man, Porter is totally in my blind spot. I was huge on him last summer as a prospect. Doesn't have the length I want in a wing. Handle is questionable. But damn if in ten years he couldn't be in the convo for best player in this draft.

Probably should be in the draft thread but he reminds me of a more athletic Rashard Lewis. In his prime, he was a 20/7 guy on great shooting volumes and efficiency. Wouldn't break the bank for him

I've never seen anyone claim Porter doesn't have good length. He measured 6'10.75 height and a 7'.25 wingspan and 9' standing reach. He'll be a full time 4 in the NBA and will more likely slide down to the 5 rather than up to 3 in spot minutes. I've been saying since before the season started that the only way I feel good about trotting out non-shooters at the 3 (Jackson and Warren) is if we get Porter to play the 4 because he really is an elite shooter. I viewed him as the top prospect before his injury. If we get Ayton we should absolutely target Porter in a trade up scenario, or possibly Mikal Bridges. If we get Doncic then we should absolutely target Wendell Carter in a trade up.

And yeah Lilfishi, I've been comparing him to Lewis for a while now, I think that's a reasonable outcome for Porter presuming he's healthy.

I am not expecting Knight to be Oladipo. I liked the comp to Gordon, Eric. How he evolved into a solid sixth man for rockets.

As for the Suns - I just cannot expect the 16th pick to be the PG and try to improve. Maybe a Donovan Mitchell happens but they need a veteran. Dragic makes 36m over two years , Igor knows him
One idea if the Heat want short and long term cap savings:

Dallas gets Whiteside
Miami gets Wes Matthews, Tyson Chandler , Daniels and Chriss or pick

Suns get Dragic. James Johnson . Prefer Olynyk

Not sure I want another rookie unless Chriss or Bender are gone. I don’t mind trading 16 and 31 to move up but if using future assets, we need a veteran not another rookie

Maybe I'm reading too much into things but looking at the clues part of me thinks they already have a deal in place for a vet pg like kemba or wall. That would make the rumor that they are all in in ayton make sense and when they publicly talk about the offseason they sure act like a vet trade is a given.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Not sure what the Raptors are after but I think Lowry might be the piece that they move this offseason to change things up. Maybe Chriss, 16, Miami pick is the starting point.

Could be. Although I would rank him behind both Kemba and Wall as likely to be acquired. Partly because I think Toronto fired Casey so they could change things up without moving Lowery or Derozen. Plus Lowery is older so has less value for the suns as a long term fit.

I know people are afraid of Walls contract but with 4 years left it would be off the books before an extension for Ayton kick in so it's manageable. Assuming they would extend Kemba if they trade for him his money is actually a little more troublesome longterm than Wall even though it would be less.

Wall has 5 years left on his contract. He will be making $47M in 2022-23.

God I hope it’s not Lowry. I would rather go into next season with Shaq Harrison as the starting PG than Lowry.

You seem to prefer only those things that we will certainly not do. Proactive pessimism!

So you’re saying we “certainly” will trade for Lowry? Any sources on that?

I’m using Harrison as an example to say I would rather we do anything else besides trade for Lowry.

You're right. I thought the 4 yr extension kicked in this year but it's not unit 2019. That extra year does make it harder to swallow for the suns IMO.

My guess Ryan and Mitch have talked. And even though Charlotte is not a destination for free agents, the Hornets are also in cap hell with Williams Zeller MKG and Batum for multiple years. So Mitch has to do something probably. Yes Lamb and Howard are expiring but they might want more flexibility and would need to bring back walker at a big increase maybe they bring TJ Warren home

Personally I still like a Dragic as the cost is more known in salary .

My guess they would like 26-27m of expiring contracts in Dud Chandler and Daniels too :)

Still want Dragic but I think Lowry over Wall for sure . That Wall extension is horrible

Teams that hand out those supermax contracts to all but a handful of 5 or so players that actually deserve them are going to be hamstrung for years. John Wall is really good but no where near worth a supermax. Lebron, KD, Harden, Davis, Curry (maybe) that may be about it that those contracts would be worth it.
