Re: Pistons to interview TNT analyst Kenny Smith for head coaching spot
I don't really have a strong opinion regarding Kenny Smith specifically but I'm nervous about hiring a head coach who has zero coaching experience. It seems like a NBA head coach should have some minimum applicable experience in order to qualify (pretty much like any other job). Imo Kenny should look to be an assistant coach for a few years, learn the ropes, and THEN interview for head coaching gigs.

Vogel & Udoka.
I don't get the appeal of Vogel. His success with Indiana banks on a very specific defensive scheme based around the center... one that's already outdated. I think Drummond could do what Frank needs him to do based on last season but I don't really want to see it either.

I like Vogel because he's proven he can be successful with two bigs in a lineup. Now the league has changed a bit since then but this is our roster.....I want someone that has proven experience with this type of roster. Now of course we don't have a Paul George or Danny Granger running the ship and I hate his 5 bench rotations too but knowing he has success with two bigs would make me feel safe.
Orlando was a disaster but not sure he gets all the blame on that. His first year had terrible management and not very much talent tbh. Last year even when they struggled Orlando players took up for him and credited him for staying positive and keeping them positive. I like that.....I like coaches that have great relationships with their players.
