Depends on how scouts feel about his quality. A Lauri Bamba frontcourt has the potential to dominate the Eastern conference. The risk is apparent. But ask the Bears why they traded up for Trubisky. And traded future picks to get back into the second round for Miller. You can build a great team around the right pieces. I would not fault the Bulls for going all in. It may be that kind of chance. A great FO is great if they act on conviction and use good judgement with the target. Yes, the caveat is, trusting GarPax.

I am certainly in the Bamba camp. Mainly because with this roster, I can certainly see down the line, us being a good/decent offensive team. Better players and execution will do that. But defensively we wont ever be good unless we have a true anchor in the front court.

While Lauri is decent defender down there, I don't want him to be the guy doing that. I want to "Dirkify" Lauri as much as possible.

Leave all the true dirty work to someone else, while he is free to be himself.

You think if a GM wants a player, they are going to let that leak? Use the story about how the Jazz GM put on notice that if anyone on staff were to leaked about Mitchell's workout, they'd be fired. Ainge is on that level.

If anything, I'd say if a leaked story is out about Ainge wanting Bamba, Ainge doesn't think too highly of him at all and is eyeing some other prospect entirely. That's not to say the Bulls front office need to get caught up in mind games with Ainge, as he isn't always right, and never will be - point is, stories like these are often smokescreens.

I know these prospects aren't openly going to talk bad about a potential employee, but it's promising that these top tier prospects are openly enthusiastic wanting to be a Chicago Bull. It almost feels that us hardcore Bulls fans feel much more disdain about the franchise than others outside of the bubble that we live in.

Hey, when surrounded by the other perennial lotto clubs the Bulls don't look like a half bad destination! Who wants to go to Sacremento and play for that loser org? Or Orlando or Atlanta?

Bamba would be an obvious plus on defense. If he could shoot and pass, this would be a no brainer and he might challenge for #1 overall. Projection is difficult. If teams are able to project shooting and passing into his game, no team is trading him. If those are open questions, do you want to trade just for his floor? The mere fact that he would be traded is a red flag. His floor is key. The way the Bulls have to evaluate it is, do reasonable alternatives to that floor exist at #7?

Means almost nothing imo. Sure all things considered give me a well spoken athlete but otherwise give me one that plays at a high level on the court and produces wins. Sports is filled with well spoken guys that have bad on court and on field personalities and lack on field IQ.

The benefit is that a well spoken player (smart) is more likely to listen to the coaches and in turn could potentially work well with the team. I agree with you that well spoken doesn't necessarily translate to being a good player, but it doesn't hurt. Look at someone like JR Smith. Talented player who makes dumb decisions quite often.

Yeah this is kinda weird when people start acting like this is a potential suitor for their daughter or sister or something. Can the player play and not get into trouble? Ok sign me up all this other stuff is irrelevant.
