Maybe I will make it out to a minor league game this coming season to check some of the talent out.

Gwinnett will be the place to be when our pitching prospects get called up there. Tbh I would've taken going to a G-Braves game over going to see the major league team these past couple of seasons.

I will make a better effort this coming season.
I travel with my job so my time is limited and I stay in Vegas a lot.
I heard a soccer team will also share the field with the Gwinnett Braves. That should be interesting.

Braves’ 7th-round draft pick hit with PED suspension
Reliever Landon Hughes, a Marietta native who was the Braves’ seventh-round pick in last year’s June draft, was hit with a 68-game suspension Thursday after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance.
The right-hander was released by the Braves two weeks ago. http://www.ajc.com/sports/baseball/braves-7th-round-draft-pick-hit-with-ped-suspension/JpExqRVfSY8oIfjWjsP9eJ/

Went to the home opener last night.
Extra innings is interesting. They give you a runner on 2nd to start the inning.
We can't hit the ball. So many double-plays.
Soroka looked good. Pen is bad...really bad.

Former Toronto slugger Jose Bautista has signed a minor league contract with us.
Going from 18 million last season to being unsigned in free agency.

Re: It's All About The Minor Leagues
Where did all these young Braves, now on the roster and wrecking havoc come from? As the topic heading says,
"It's all about the Minor Leagues."
Atlanta went from having a poor Minor League system to one of the very best. Now, it's paying off. A great
example was this week when the three youngest players in the major leagues were all Braves and all three
were on the starting nine - - And Atlanta won the game!

When Albies and Acuna homered together, they were the youngest teammates to do so in the same game in the Majors since another Atlanta pair: Bob Horner and... Glenn Hubbard in 1978. These 2 are absurdly good for their ages - they both could be all-stars this year - how crazy is that? Ok, maybe I'm jumping the gun on Acuna... maybe. And pitching prospects... not sure an organization (except maybe for the Braves when they had Smoltz, Glavine, and Steve Avery) has had so many good ones at once. The best are yet to come to Atlanta.

Holy spit performances by Austin Riley and Koby Allard for AAA Gwinnett in their 10-0 victory yesterday. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2018_05_13_noraaa_gwiaaa_1&t=g_box&sid=milb

Re: It's All About The Minor Leagues
Braves have to be real happy with CFer Drew Waters, their 19 year old former 2nd round pick. He tore it up in May at Rome OPSing 1.054. For the season, he's hitting .305/.360/.503/.923 and has 23 extra base hits in 150 at bats - along with 8 steals. He has a bit of a SO problem, but I don't think it's any worse than Acuna's or Riley's. If he keeps it up, he'll likely get a promotion to high A Florida this season - and he'll be 19 all season. If he does well there this year, he will fly up the prospect lists. But even if that doesn't happen this year, he'll still likely be ahead of schedule. And with the 2018 draft starting today, we can just hope to do as well in the 2nd round.

Re: It's All About The Minor Leagues
Fried's starting for Gwinnett tonight. I'm thinking it's as much to impress other teams at this point. I just can't see him ever making the Atlanta rotation, and he's been one of the Braves' highest rated prospects for several years now. At 24, it's not too late to hopefully have some good outings to impress another team that can give him an extended look in their MLB rotation. And the Braves can include him in a trade package.

Re: It's All About The Minor Leagues
And Fried did indeed have a very nice game with 11 K's to zero walks and 3 hits in 7 innings - giving up 1 run. Another couple of games like that, and the lefty will have significant trade value.
Btw, looks like the Braves have a dramatically improving 3rd base prospect - Jean Carlos Encarncacion - don't know if he's related to former all-star 3rd baseman Juan Encarnacion. He's on a tear at Rome. That team has 3 real good positional prospects if you include him: Encarnacion (20), catcher William Contreras (20), and CFer Drew Waters (19). And some are high on OFer Israel Wilson (20), 2nd baseman Derian Cruz (19), and catcher Drew Lugbauer (21).

Re: It's All About The Minor Leagues
I actually still like Fried, but turning him into trade bait seems like the best course of action for the team. Move him and get a cost controlled bullpen arm.

Yeah, Braves pitching has been great, but I'd feel better down the stretch if they had another dependable late inning arm in the bullpen.
