His stats are much better thou...
But there have been franchise level players that have busted out before...
Why would you ask that question? Shouldn't you compare him to the 7'1 freshmen who averaged 20 and 10 in college and busted in the NBA?
Throwing out an arbitrary name like Thabeet who's game has nothing in common is kind of irrational, no?
I couldn’t really think of any off the top of my head.
While ayton is leagues better than thabeet offensively, thabeet was supposed to be at least very good on defense. And wasn’t.
This is what I’m thinking about with ayton. Big man offense isn’t really important so much. 20ppg centers are not really what you want. Ayton can look a little lost and disinterested on defense. That’s where the Thebeet worries come in a little bit.
There are some centers in the nba who are fantastic on offense and can’t get on the floor because of their defense. And as the years pass, this issue only gets worse!!!
Drafting a 20ppg big man with defensive awareness issues... that’s a little red flag for me. Defensive awareness issues makes me think thabeet. It’s just a little scary... who cares if he is all world on offense, if he is a liability on the other end (the end that most of the “best” centers now are dominating)
