Nicholas U’Ren The NBA Version of Sean McVay?

Post#1 » by OGLife » Tue Jun 5, 2018 11:39 am

He has been with the Warriors staff since 2014. Articles have been made which credit him for the line up which features Green at the 5. He spends most time reviewing film and being hands on with the roster.

He’s currently 31 years old which would make him the youngest coach in the NBA. His personality may be exactly what this team needs.

What do you guys think?

I think U'ren is more of a video coordinator. I'm not sure if you would have him coaching the sidelines.

You guys need a strong leader head coach. Someone who can communicate, yet still commands respect. You have lots of talent on that roster, but need a strong respected voice to get things across. Also should be a bit more defensive minded. I don't think offense is the problem there.

Casey was a good coach, I just think they have heard him enough, and a change was necessary.

Also I think you need to deal Derozen for the best deal you can. You guys need a killer as your leader. Neither Lowry or Derozen are killers, and to win the tough games and series you need that guy. I think you might get something pretty decent from maybe the Lakers if you try and move Derozen. He has more trade value than Lowry IMO. I would put feelers out on either.

The next Warriors assistant who might be in line for a head coaching gig is Jarron Collins (maybe he could coax U'ren to come over with him)

Udoka would be a good pickup.

There aren't too many "killers" on the market. Nobody on the Lakers is a killer, so that doesn't help much.

The team needs to do something, but doing anything much is unlikely, unless Raptors plan on taking a value hit. We're in a tough spot. But we kind of knew that we they signed these contracts. This was the core for these 3 years (2 left). Can't cry about it now, we knew what it was the day they were signed. Get a new guy in on a "throw him to the wolves" 2-3 year deal. He fails, you cut him loose and then reset next year. It's not like these guys are going to be that expensive compared to Casey.
