Why not a trade for Dragic, if all Miami want is a 2nd rounder. He could run Igor's offense and make this potentially one of the best liked squad's in team history.

I'd only do it if Miami took back Knight as well. I would give them our 2nd then which is almost like a late 1st.

I don't think we should be so eager to dump Knight. He might have some value for us this year.

Been saying that for 3 years. Might as well dump him for little before he shows that he's a selfish garbage chucker again.

Because if we wait for the season to start before he shows his true colors then dumping his contract will take giving up an actual 1st rd pick or taking back an equally bad contract. And his contract, unlike Chandler's and Dudley's, runs for another THREE seasons.

nope, it runs through 2020. He signed a 5 year deal in the 2015 offseason.

regardless of how well he plays, the expiring contract will become an asset by the 2020 deadline, at worst.

So if we are going Ayton whats the plan at PG? We arent going anywhere next year with Knight/Payton/Ulis

Why is that exactly? Look, truthfully we don't quite know what we have with most the youngsters due to the lack of system/dev the past couple seasons. I know we will try to win more next season, but that should occur just with a better coach and our guys getting older. I think the ultimate upside move is to hope Knight stops sucking enough to become tradeable.

Truth is the only FA PG I have interest in is Exum, who Igor knows well. I can get behind that. The vet PGs are trade targets but they need to come super cheap to be worthwhile imo. Dragic and Kemba are the obvious 2, but I can't see Charlotte trading Kemba quite yet. Again, they need to come cheap. Dragic is a good fit but he needs to be okay being the 3rd wheel offensively and he needs to also come cheap. I have 0 interest whatsoever in trading 16, Bucks, or Miami's 2021 to get him back given his salary and age. I could also get behind a trade for one of Brooklyn's PGs if they would do it, but I imagine Russell in particular is going to cost a lot. Still, Russell would be a damn good fit for this team and I might be okay paying a lot for him.

Next offseason there are a ton of potential PGs and potential SGs (if we go point Booker), that are fits. We should remain patient.

I don't think Dragic would care about being the third wheel (and I seriously doubt players think in such terms outside of maybe some the superstars) but he is such a pick n roll maestro and having worked under Igor could work out well. I don't know that Miami wants to trade him though and I don't know how much I'd give up for him.


Don't really understand those who hold his past with the Suns against him if he might improve the team.

While I still hold out hope that we can somehow get Doncic in addition to Ayton I think Dragic would be a perfect kick start to a new era in Suns basketball. It would be fun again to be a Suns fan. Hell I would try to get him even if we magically acquire Doncic and Ayton.

Dragic to me is very do-able. Even without Doncic. Suns can either wait post July 1 and make a deal outright. Or post Finals- use Williams Ulis Dudley to really save Riles some cash

I was just trying to both use expiring and non guaranteed deals to acquire a PG. Suns cannot do everything I think they need to do and expect to keep all of the Dudley, Chandler, Daniels and Williams in my opinion.

We absolutely need to keep Knight, Dudley, Bender, and Daniels on the team. Besides Booker, these four are some the best three point shooters we have and we absolutely need to get more shooters in free agency and if possible the draft.

House, Canaan, Peters, and even Ulis should be given camp invites because they all have very good free throw shooting percentages and could turn into good three point shooters.

Any free agent point guard we go after needs to be able to hit the three. Just say no to Payton, Smart, Rondo, or any other poor three point shooter. We already have enough to worry about with Jackson and Warren so no sense in adding another "hope he improves" player to our roster.

I want to figure out how to get TJ McDonnell and Grayson Allen.

I think Love will cost Chandler, Warren and possibly a draft pick. If the Suns get Love I don't see WArren having value. Possibly, the CAvs might want Chriss - which I would give up instead of Warren.

Trading for Love all comes down to cost for me. If we have Ayton Love is a good fit, but I'm disinclined to pay a lot for him given how little defense we have elsewhere and given that Ayton is unproven. That would give us legit 5 out potential lineup. Knight/Booker/Bender/Love/Ayton. Not much D, but that squad could make it rain. If JJ has improved his 3 ball this summer it would be good to have him in there in addition as part of that rotation. Warren would be great on the break with that squad with Love sending him those killer passes he does.
