People said the same **** when LeBron teamed up with two other top 10 players and were the heavy favorites to win the title every year.

A few years late? Nobody cares, and all they do is count the rings.

People weren't saying it much when Lebron was a two time champion and now KD is about to be and the general vibe still the same as July 2016. It's not all about Lebron gushing, I was one of his harshest critics after the decision but he won me over again, it's different than what KD did/is doing.

I agree it's different. Mainly because after the 2011 Finals failure, LeBron took over the Heat, and was clearly the best player on the team and in the World.

As someone who has watched the NBA for 30 years, I'm telling you that these current narratives fade with time though. In a decade, all people will see is back-to-back Titles and back-to-back Finals MVP's.

As a Warriors fan I don't really give a **** about Durant's legacy. After being a garbage franchise for 20+ years, I'm just happy to have a great team.

It's actually funny how the narrative has changed.

A couple weeks ago, people were criticizing Durant for his decision, and that he could not play well and his team would still win.

Now he's the Finals MVP and people have done a 180.
I remember your posts from the RPOY project, you consistently brought it. Please continue to do so, sir. This board needs guys like you to counteract ... worthless posters

False.

Legacy matters.

People say we won't remember how KD won his rings in 20 years but that's false. A lot of us will remember his move as the softest professional sports move we've ever seen.

It will stain his legacy forever.

Makes me think of watching the former player analysts on TV... Shaq, Kenny Smith, Chauncy Billups, Jalen, Barkeley, Pierce... they like to rib each other about their careers... you think when Durant's generation takes over those roles they won't be snickering and slighting Durant for how he won his championships? You think that won't bother him? He has shown himself to be the most sensitive dude ever. It's gonna haunt him forever.

Dude is freaking stained.

No cause there's going to a winner on that panel and shut Barkley down. Kenny does it. You can hope against hope winning doesn't equal winning but you'll be frustrated. Pretend all you want Karl Malone gets the best PF of all time moniker you want. 20 years? After tonight he very well might have guys like you in the minority. People like winners. Players like winners.

Yea I'll admit part of it was luck, Lebron lucked into a better legacy in part because Chris Bosh got hurt and wasn't the player expected to be and Wade declined a lot sooner than expected but in the end these factors contributed to his legacy improving.

I hated his move to GS but if he prevents Lebron from ever winning another title, he’s alright in my book.

KD nor Curry have to play great to win.
If both play just good they still win.
If one plays great and the other sucks they still win.
even if they both suck and Klay gets hot they can still beat most of the teams in the league.

Replace KD with Danny Green, Kris Middleton, or any other above average 3d player and they're still
heavy favorites for the chip.

Like another poster said. KD taking a 3-1 lead over Golden State is his most impressive accomplishment.

Everybody lost with KD's move.

Post#111 » by IG2 » Sat Jun 9, 2018 4:31 am

Obviously, the other 29 teams lost because they had 0 shot at winning a championship, but I don't think GS won themselves.

That is their tragedy to me. They are undoubtedly the GOAT team, but there's an artificiality to how they achieved that status - adding top 3 player to a 73-9 roster - that will always preclude them for ever being a 'celebrated' team or even a team that will get properly placed in history. They are so much better than everybody else that their accomplishments simply feel hollow. GS' celebrations itself the last 2 seasons says it all. No genuine emotion or authenticity to it. It's all so meh. Because it's all so easy. There's zero doubt in my mind they would gladly trade these last 2 rings for one in 2016. Now that would've actually meant something. And nothing will change next season when they cruise to 3 in a row. The world will still react to it with a 'meh'.

Which is why I've always said nobody won with KD's move. GS didn't. KD most certainly didn't - 0 legacy boost, 0 respect gained and he remains the poster child for anti-competitiveness. Did anybody else on GS get any boost from the last 2 seasons? I certainly can't see one. And it's so sad. A team and it's stars' legacy is so tied to them winning it all. We can't wait to discuss how winning a championship impacts their place in history. With this team, there's nothing to discuss. Nothing to talk about. It's ho-hum, the most talented 2-way team ever won it all again, now let's all go to sleep.

And they still needed the refs to bail them out.
Usually after 2-3 championships you start to respect the teams you dislike. There is no respect here. They get more hatable.
Refs ruined this series in a 2006 level. In 2007 a ref went to jail. Stay tuned.

Ratings disagree. GSW popularity and profitability disagrees.

Parity never existed in the nba so you can't be salty at the Warriors. Plus they deserve it, their team has been bad for a long time. Let em enjoy this super team.

Which is why teams should be helping facilitate a move that puts LeBron in the best position to challenge the Warriors (like taking on Ryan Anderson's contract if it helps bring LeBron to Houston). Take one for the league.
