What can Durant do that would save his legacy?

Post#121 » by Spens1 » Sat Jun 9, 2018 4:43 am

Its clear that Durant is hated by everyone that isn't a warriors fan (hell, reading some of the comments here, some warriors fans aren't too keen on him either). This isn't limited to fans on some basketball forum however, this extends to the media and former players themselves (most of them have been scathing about him ever since leaving).

Is their something that Durant could do that would save his legacy and maybe not go down as being perceived as the weakest superstar mentally and one of the biggest villains and most hated superstars in the game's history.

lol "legacy" it's only the fans who care about it. I think Durant will sleep fine with his rings and money.

Lead a different team to a championship. That's the only way. Until he does that, he'll always be the guy who joined a 73-9 team to guarantee himself cheap rings.

Honestly?

I wish Durant can say, okay I got two chips, I got two fmvps. I got my success. Now I wanna go back to OKC and pay back what I owe it to the city. I need to prove I can lead the team to a championship.

That would help.

Go back to OKC or play for his hometown Washington.

Pretty simple. Wait for Lebron to sign somewhere then KD sign with Cleveland. Then beat Warriors in the finals.

If he slept fine with just his rings and money he wouldn't need to create burner accounts defending himself.

Unfortunately, it's good for the league since it brings the ratings. I suggest a different mindset as a fan. Unless you're one of those elite contenders, enjoy what you can about your team until they inevitably miss the playoffs or get destroyed by these elite teams. It's a defeatist attitude, but obviously I have no control over my team or the league. I can't get on the court. The NBA isn't a league for parity. You watch it because basketball is entertaining and for the stars. You could easily erase a lot of these franchises from existence and people would barely bat an eye. 2 franchises alone own over 30 titles. And you have dynasties every decade.

It's just not the league for parity. One of the reasons I enjoy football more. The Dolphins have been a mediocre franchise because of themselves. Not because the league is unfair.

Nothing. His legacy is fine. 1 MVP, 2 FMVP, 2 rings.

Durant's legacy is set. He is the only current superstar that fans feel didnt 'earn' his first title. He will always be remembered for that.

Outside of nerds on the realgm general board? lol.

The media will talk about his game 3 finals performance for God knows how long. B2B finals MVP and still under 30? I think his legacy will be fine.

Going to okc or Washington would be following lebron’s footsteps. Not a good look. I think the knicks would be his cure all.

What's the big deal? It's not like KD took some huge paycut. The Warriors were able to afford him and it lined up nicely for both of them. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs
