What does Marcus Smart give to us that Beverley or Bradley can't give?

Better size, he plays a lot bigger than them, and also Bradley is not as good a defender as many people think.
True. Still I don't think it's enough because those guys can shoot. Smart is a poor shooter and liability on offense

On this you are correct, he's still good, he impacts games positively despite his poor shooting, but you have to know what kind of lineups you will pair him with.

Don't get me wrong he's good. I just don't think he's worth it when we already have similar players in our roster already

Rather look to get a pick and keep ours loving this draft potential. 12 and 13 have produced some gems lately if we can use anyone outside of Tobias to get another first go for it.

Is Boston going to trot out Kyrie and Scary Terry next year?
Hayward, Tatum, and Brown?

Looks like there might be redundant talent there and some diminishing returns.
Maybe Brown can run the 4 in a small ball lineup but Morris can do that as well.

Anybody think one of the wings will be available this offseason?

Kyrie, Brown, Hayard, Tatum, Horford. Rozier runs the bench unit, Smart takes the qualifying offer.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Would a team in the second round that's in position to draft Aaron Holiday be willing to trade his rights for Jawun Evans? Should the Clippers?

Doubtful. And if we were aiming at point guards in the 2nd round, I'd be more interested in Jalen Brunson, Trevon Duval and Jevon Carter.

I don't care how--whether it's via trade or opt out--as long as he's gone. Take Daddy Doc with him, please.

Yes, they hold the RFA rights and can match any offer IF they give him a qualifying offer this summer. But we still have Pat Bev, and if Austin opts in and the Clippers find themselves with another guard or two as the Best Player Available in the draft, or if the market for Avery Bradley is soft and he's available for cheap, interest in Ty would necessarily be lower, esp if the offer we have to match is on the higher side.

Plus we also already have Sindarius, who is on a guaranteed contract this year, but if he pans out, is signed for next year at a very team-favorable $1.6M. PLUS CJ Williams is already tied up with a low-guarantee, low-salary deal.

Considering the insultingly low-ball offer they gave him at the close of last year, and the overstock of 2-guards we have, I don't even know if a qualifying offer is in the cards. I'd say Ty's status within the Clippers' budget is

Good question. Unlike a draft pick, he's not even "ours" until we give him a qualifying offer. And even after that, it appears the answer is no.

There can be no compensation given to a team in return for their submitting or not submitting an offer sheet, or for matching or not matching an offer to a restricted free agent. For example, Houston could not sign Golden State's restricted free agent to an offer sheet, then send Golden State a draft pick in exchange for their not matching the offer. Teams also can't try to scare teams that might sign their restricted free agents, for example by declaring publicly that they will match any and all offers.

If a team matches an offer sheet and retains its free agent, then for one year they cannot trade him without his consent, and during that year cannot trade him at all to the team that signed him to the offer sheet. They also can't trade the player in a sign-and-trade transaction (see question number 92). A restricted free agent's resulting contract (whether with the new team or the contract is matched by the player's prior team) cannot be amended in any manner for one year.

It doesn't sound like Smart is willing to take the QO.

He may not have a choice, if the market isn't there.

He can still impact the game positively, not just on defense but he's pretty good running the pick and roll.

He's bigger and younger than Beverly, who's coming off pretty serious injury, isn't he? But he's likely going to want a lot more money than maybe Beverly will when he's a free agent after next season.

But I don't know how true it is that the Celtics are worried Kyrie may not sign an extension with them after next season. If that is the case, Celtics may not want to let Smart go.

Hell with some of this talk about Lebron going to the Celtics, Kyrie may not stick around.

Clippers looking to trade #12 and #13 picks to land Luka Doncic. Thoughts?

Bold move if they pull it off.

Then they could probably move on from Austin and Teodesic after next season, assuming both opt in.

New face of the franchise and probably the guy to build around, something they don't have yet.

I'm all for it, but not sure it makes sense unless he falls to Dallas. Package DJ (he opts in because of trade and Dallas having his bird rights).

I am from the same country as Luka and our media also have reports that Clippers are willing to trade if he falls to 5. Both picks + Tobias Harris is supposed to be the offer.
