Re: The Newest Video Game Thread
Daaamn. Hard to believe its been 20 years. I remember when 2K first came out, I was a kid who wanted a Dreamcast so bad but not for NBA 2K, I wasn't even a basketball fan at that time. Funny thing is, playing the first NBA 2K (only played the first 3 games or so very sporadically) is one of the things that got me more interested in basketball and the wolves which I am sure are all these sports companies really hope for.
I remember when NBA 2K9 came out and it was the 10 anniversary. Pretty sure that one had Shaq on the cover, I know I still got it. NBA 2K5 is when I really got into NBA 2K. By that time I wa a diehard wolves fans. That's when they undercut the market by selling it and NFL 2K5 for 20 bucks, was a crazy time for videogames, no way were you getting brand new top tier games for 20 bucks anywhere. Brilliant business move from Sega and Visual Concepts and EA sports games never fully recovered.

I have been playing my other career as a SG. Pretty much simmed my first couple of seasons but have really been playing season 3. Just played the Bucks, their team is pretty sweet. They still got the Greek Freak but they got Austin Rivers at point, Lavine at SG, Mike Scott at PF and Deandre Jordan at center. They got Bledsoe but for some reason he is coming off the bench, maybe he's hurt.

Re: The Newest Video Game Thread
Got to say its really fun when you play against an interesting team. Playing the Bucks again. First game was close nut we pulled away. This game Lavine is going off and had 22 points in the first half. Now its tied with 30 seconds to go. Lavine has 39, I just got 40. This Bucks team is great.
Another thing to note about 2K18 is that the team you go to not only gets you, but it also gets Wells. Wells is pretty underrated. He's even more lethal than Justice Young in 2K17 because Wells can hit threes like nobodies business. I never get enough play time with him but when we are both in he's an easy assist machine. He started one game and I got him to drop 58 points. If he ever starts we are a championship level team. He makes Curry look like Rubio when it comes to three point shooting.

Keep up. I'm on XBox One now.
And no, at least it wasn't in 2k16 which I had been playing. They'll give you a billboard or magazine cover, but there's no story along with it. You get a cover letter and can view what you got. Every once in awhile the GM might bring you in to discuss trade targets and you can go ask for more minutes or whatever, but that's it.

I knew you were one X1 I thought though you were playing 2K18 on 360 before that. Forgot you were still playing 2K16. I don't mess around with the community/online stuff myself. I just play 80 percent my career and 20 percent my league.

Sorry, meant inside MyCareer. When not playing games, what are you doing?

Always check your phone and do what Brian asks to maximize your VC and sponsorships. With that said don't be afraid to ask for better offers, saw someone get a really nice shoe deal recently. Every now and then go to your home as some cutscenes activate. Go to the practice gym and pick some badges you may want to work on, some can be gotten fairly fast at the bronze level if you go to the practice gym. Working on free throws there to get bronze in particular is a really good idea as your free throw ability is trash to start, bronze bumps it to like 70 which is much better.
Badges can have a big impact on things your player can do so try to get them. Some people do the fitness area stuff as I think it gives you boosts but I don't normally do that. Mani thing is stay up on your text and do the things they ask of you. Also if you get a shoe deal in the future, make sure you always wear that companies shoes, even in street games.

OK so pretty much what I've been doing.
Last day or two I haven't gone to the practice gym as much. I feel like the points I get don't always match the time I put in. I do have 3 badges so far, and I'm at 70 overall now. Slowly working my way up. Speaking of the practice gym, do you guys know about getting another practice drill at the juice cart?
Oh, and starting to see what you guys are saying about B-Fresh. Still think Shammy is more annoying though.

LOL I like Shammy!
Didn't know about the extra drill. I don't practice often, I did more in the start of my career to get points for early badges but those points mean a lot less when you get to silver and gold.

I play a lot of pro am, I've played maybe 4 park games and they all involved never being passed the ball while the guy who thinks he's a dribble god throws up contested shots like he's Wiggins and plays defense like JR Smith.
I'm actually captaining a team of a new pro am league that is meant to encourage more realistic gameplay. Teams are based off real life teams both in appearance/branding and roster composition. All players start at 60 overall and upgrades are handed out by performance. I'm running the Celtics team with Gordon Hayward as my player. I already have users in the role of Irving, Brown and Tatum as well but are looking for a Horford, Smart and Morris if anyone is interested.
League is trying to fill up, I believe there are 2 teams with at least 5 while 4 teams only have 4 and a couple teams only have one or two users.

It's kind of a proof of concept ramping up for a larger league in 2k19. I'm hoping it worksCalinks wrote:lbj273 wrote:I play a lot of pro am, I've played maybe 4 park games and they all involved never being passed the ball while the guy who thinks he's a dribble god throws up contested shots like he's Wiggins and plays defense like JR Smith.

Re: The Newest Video Game Thread
Here's an interesting 2K story. I am in the playoffs again, my Denver team has the 2nd seed. We are playing Thunder again. They are tough again, last season Melo almost killed us, they just make him way better in the playoffs for whatever reason but it makes it really fun.
This year for some odd reason they are starting a 2nd round rookie at PF. Name is Derrick Dennis, looking at his stats he's is pretty mediocre. Rating is 64 overall, he only played in a handful of games all season, but for some reason he got the start game 1 and so far, all the way to game 4 of the playoffs. Despite his stats, this kid is doing great in his role.
He's has a 63 3 pt rating yet he has knocked down several threes. He moves really well, has been solid on defense but really good at making moves on offense. He's actually someone I am on the look out for every time down the floor, he's playing big role and averaging 10 points and 6 boards.
I don't know why he is in this position but I really enjoy the story of this. Unknown rookie starts balling out on the big stage, playing a big factor for this Thunder team. I am sure next season he will go back to being buried on the bench but it will be really cool if he gets a bigger role and improves going forward.

Re: The Newest Video Game Thread
Had a couple of funny cut screen moments today.
First, coming out of a game I got a text to meet my agent at my condo. So I did. Right when that cut screen ended, I get another text from my agent to meet him at his office...WHEN HE'S STILL SITTING IN MY CONDO!
Second one was going into a game against the Lakers, I got a cut screen where I was talking to Isaiah Thomas during warmups...BUT ISAIAH WAS WEARING CAVS GEAR.

Isaiah hasn't accepted reality. He thinks he was sent to the Lakers as a spy and will be called back before the finals.
E3 is this week. I am really hoping Microsoft has a good conference and shows something for Xbox fans. They have been getting absolutely killed in the gaming social zeitgeist the last couple of years so they really need to turn perception around. This conference goes poorly and they will be at the bottom of the barrell for a long time in the vocal public's eyes.

Have you seen anything interesting in E3 just yet? So far nothing that caught my eye.
