To me it's insane. And I'm not a Luka hater. You want to talk about squandering assets, that would be a great way to squander assets.
Dunn isn't much of an asset. We just saw Mudiay and Elfrid Payton dealt for complete scraps.
Portis is an asset, but he's blocked. #22 is also an asset but whatever, it's pick #22.
Consolidation is desirable. Important to have a good churn and not be attached to marginal pieces like Dunn, Portis, #22, (and frankly everything except Lauri, #7, and our 2019 1st).
I’m higher on Dunn than most and think he’s going to make a surprising leap.....
That said, I’d do that trade in a heartbeat. Luka and Lauri would be a great start to a young team and fun to root for and watch.

Bad comparison with those two guards as the contracts limit their value and that's a pretty flippant way to describe "just the 22nd pick" as a Bulls fan given that GarPax have pulled a rabbit out of a hat more than once late in the 1st round.
Dunn will very soon be in the same contract situation as those guys. Dunn's rookie contract will expire before the team will be worth a damn again.
It's the #22 pick. You'd rather have it than not, but it's not that valuable. I like extra picks. But I like Doncic more.

I couldn't disagree more. I really couldn't. To me, thats us getting absolutely fleeced and I don't think that highly of Dunn or Portis. Doncic just ins't worth it IMO.

Mudiay sucks but is also younger than Dunn.
Elfrid was a straight up better player than Dunn last year.

Groupthink and all the "but ____ went ____" arguments aside usually NBA GM's are competent and there is a reason Luka is falling. Maybe he proves everybody wrong but obviously there are some worries about how he'll translate into the NBA.
That said, if dude is available at #7 **** YEA. If he's available at 5 and Bamba/JJJ are off the board maybe you dangle Portis and the #7.
But all that for Luka himself? Hell no, that's just really bad asset management.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

We here may be content to sit back at 7 and pick the remainder off. The Bulls are likely going to have their 1 or 2 must have guys though. And they ought to go up to get one of them if there is any doubt. Especially if all it costs for a cornerstone next to Lauri is a low pick and a backup 6th man type or whatever future pick. Or an average NBA starter.

Its maddening to even consider trading up. If we would've just tanked properly we wouldn't even have to consider this. Complete failure of a season if we have to give up players/picks to move up in the draft order. We were trying to f'n tank!

No. How come Elfrid was traded last year during the season to the Suns then? Orlando would have kept him if he was better than Dunn.

You think Bulls FO would rather have Elfrid or Dunn?

But it is spilled milk at this time. There is a bill to pay, sure. Yet if they dont get one of their guys, that's what is unacceptable if a deal is there. The blown tank can still be mitigated.

It's impossible to say that showcasing Mirotic definitely helped or hurt. It probably came back neutral given he netted the #22 overall pick, which some are now suggesting be used to move up.

I wouldn't trade up for anyone in this draft, you have to give up too much for Ayton or Doncic and nobody else is worth trading up for. Someone good will fall to us at 7. Let's not make a panic move

That sounds alot like Kevin Kostner trading 3rd 1st round picks for Bo Callahan

If the Bulls trade up to 2 my guess it’s for Bagley. If they trade up for Porter it would be because he wasn’t making it to 7, and trust me they’ll know if he’s making it to 7 or not.
Maybe they would know he wasnt making it to 7 in this scenario, Ralph, but I would be happy if someone took him earlier than 7 so we had a shot at a player I like better. I wouldn’t be happy to trade up for Bagley either, but I could get behind a move like that even if I prefer a trade up for Doncic or Bamba (Which I do)
We have Martell Webster. He's called Kyle Korver here, and we shall love him and squeeze him and call him Ashton. -BrooklynBulls

Elfrid's contract was almost up. Dunn still has two years.
Check again in 18 months what the Bulls think of Kris Dunn. It probably won't be a whole lot different…
