Tatum is the best Celtics prospect I have seen since Bird, and one of the two best Boston sports prospects I have seen since then. The other is Gronkowski, and that was only starting in his second training camp.

Barring injury, there is not one chance in one thousand that Ben Simmons ends up better. That's just free money. Will also be better than Pierce, Melo, TMac and Vince.

Coming from the ultimate realist, btw. Should have been obvious very early on. For his part, while I am happy with him as the 3rd pick in 2016 and happy with his progress, Jaylen doesn't even rate in this conversation.

Curious to hear your more detailed thoughts on Jaylen.

Do you think he's really not going to be that good, or do you just think Tatum is going to be SO good that it isn't even fair to compare Brown to him?

Tatum is already the best C's draftee since Pierce. I wouldn't say since since Bird just yet since I clearly remember PP's first years. He came on like gangbusters from the get go and you just knew he was something special. Let's see how Jayson develops. I have super high hopes though.

More the latter. No shame in not being a future superstar. That’s a short list. But Jaylen also doesn’t have the same tools in his box. Much more limited in his skill set, IMO.

I like T-mac and Vince just based off the bodies and athletic ability. I don't know much of anything about Vince's game when he was young. But Jaylen emulates him with good shooting and fast twitch athletic ability. Vince is a little shorter, significantly more athletic

Similarly, prime pre-injury Tmac was a lot more athletic than Tatum but he never had those eye popping explosive highlight-reel plays. Factor in Tatum's equal penchant for more fluid athletic ability vs explosive, their size and ball skills, its a pretty good comparison.

Its pretty obvious which of the two is more comfortable out there with the ball in their hands. Jaylen has a big advantage on defense just because of his frame and athletic ability. But Tatum is light years ahead of Brown when it comes to making sure the ball goes through the hoop. Jaylen still needs to add facets to his offensive skillset. Jayson has it all, he just needs polish.
