Phil Jackson and the triangle is the reason. I wish there was a way to know what Mills and Perry would of done if Phil was already gone.
Mills already admitted he would have still taken Frank but it could just be him not wanting to throw the kid under the bus. We won't really know the real answer. I doubt that Frank even had a good workout, they just wanted him all along so they took him. The kid was playing for his team in France then jumped on a long flight and had a workout in New York. Hard to imagine him not being jet lagged, nervous, tired and still having a good showing or at least having a better workout than Donovan Mitchell. They took him because they wanted him before the draft process even started, all the other workouts they did were kinda irrelevant.
I was pissed when they did this because just days before they were all saying that they didn't know enough about him and had him going to I believe Dallas or the Knicks on their draft board, but knew Mark Cuban had the hots for him. But Jalen Rose himself just found another opportunity to dog the Knicks because of his hate for the organization. But anyway if you look at it this way who was the better player at 18 years of age? Would you have taken Mitchell top ten when he was 18?
Yeah, I still take 18 year old Mitchell over Frank. There's enough high school and freshman year at Louisville footage out there to see that Mitchell still showed flashes of who he was. The quick first step, shiftiness off the dribble, explosive athleticism, good looking shot mechanics, all these things were being flashed when he was Frank's age.
