What was he doing that makes you question his IQ? I haven't watched any HS games of his, just highlight packages and clips but that doesn't show you those things.

Misses basic reads, almost never passes on the move, doesn't see a play develop if it doesn't result in him scoring. I'm not expecting him to be a PG, but there is a certain amount of awareness you'd like to see from someone who is styling himself as a 3. It's why I think his best position is probably a 4/5.

The question becomes is it a lack of awareness or does he just not care if he's not going to score?

I've essentially thrown out his Mizzou games in terms of evaluation, but it's not like those were encouraging from a mindset perspective either.

It's like the Lopez brothers with the Porters. If you combined them you'd get an incredible player.

I don't trust Kyler, but if Mavs go Carter, Bulls probably go Bamba, and Cavs probably go Porter which isn't ideal...unless you really want Mikal (IMO not sold on him being anything more than Ariza)

This could explain why they are exploring trade down options. There does seem to be some consistency with these reports so they might be true but we will find out soon

Yup. Jontay is like the polar opposite. Just like the Lopezes, you can tell they grew up playing against each other.

I just feel players develop poor mechanics w/ that type of hair. No funny shyt. Maybe im crazy for even saying that, but I just cant remember. Shump and Elfrid Payton come to mind w/ similar hair styles and they were trash hitting a 3.

Not even saying you need to have short hair to be a good 3pt shooter. But if you have type of haircut and try to shoot a 3, its gonna interfere w/ the proper shooting form.

LOl...you cannot be serious. This is just too ridiculous. Sorry, but if that is`a serious question, you just ruined the phrase " there is no such thing as a dumb question".

But what's he going to do against them though? His handles are very shaky and he's a toothpick with a fragile frame. His footwork in the post is pretty good but he's going to have to work extra hard fighting for position in the NBA just trying to get to that spot, so I don't really see how he's going to consistently be able to create separation in the NBA.

I think Porter's handle is fine if he's a full time 4 and occasional small ball 5. Again we can't really be sure what he's going to be because in High School he was just more of an athletic freak and could get what he wanted when he wanted and he obviously came back less than 100% at Missouri. Not many legit 6'10" guys can shoot on the move like he can. That's already a tremendous skill to have combined with his very functional athleticism when healthy. His release point is high too so bigs are going to have to push up on him to cover it which will only allow him to play off that jumper even more. Handle can be improved. He's a raw slate but I believe in his natural talent especially at 9.

Mark my words, Porter will be a soft NBA player and be the kind that really pisses off the fans. There is no Draymond Green in him....

Yes - especially with how Jontay is still shy about putting the ball up in the post and does all this jukey stuff to get his shot up. You can tell he's used to his older brother swatting the **** out of him. Now he's really big though. Go up strong, young buck.

Spoiler:
I heavily scouted him for BAF and was all in with Pick 15. So pissed he went back.

I cant recall a player w/ a flat top or similar hairstyle be a good 3pt shooter. I swear I saw an article or video about the same subject matter years ago.

I don't like the hair but it's not my biggest worry about Lonnie, my biggest worry is his jump shot. We need shooters on this team and shooters that will play D.

I would consider Bagley and also Jaren Jackson at Pick #1 next to KP. You lose guarding in space but gain in rebounding and attacking the rim. He shows some potential as a spacer as well. Jackson, of course, doesn't have those weaknesses but may not have an elite offensive strength either.

In most circumstances I would not consider him at 1.

What's wrong with his shot?

His shot selection is trash, but his shot mechanics are great.
