Draft Thread 13 - The Field Thins

Bottom line is this. We arent gonna be good this year and will be in the lottery again. You dont want a shane battier imho. You can find 3 and D guys who are 6'6. What is much harder to find is combo forwards with the potential of knox. You draft on potential. Who is going to be better 2-3 years later? If we were a playoff team I understand taking the safe pick. But we are not. I'm ok with mikal, I want to make sure I make that clear. However I perfer a higher upside prospect. Emila okafor and shane battier are nice players, but in the lottery you go for thr guy with the highest upside. At least in my opinion.

Drafting on potential alone when you need sure talent is a good way to get fired if you are a GM. Anthony Randolph says "hi".

Long combo forward who can stretch the floor as a legit shooter, score in transition and has the tools to be a plus defender. With his shooting ability and athleticism at his size he can be a nightmare of a cover at both SF and PF. He needs to become a better shot creator and show the willingness to be great but the potential is there.

You could say the same things about Mikal though.

With his shooting ability and athleticism at his size he can be a nightmare of a cover at both SF and PF. You can but as a young team in development mode do you take the 21 year old who is further along and can help right now or an 18 year old who you can mold to meet your needs in the future? That is pretty much the line of thinking right now.

I don't want to harp on Mitchell again. Like I said before his situation was more right place at the right time.

If it comes down to Mikal or Knox, Knicks will take Knox because of higher upside potential. However, Mikal will have a great career in Philly.

It is, but I am just saying that doesn’t mean he will be the better player in 3 years. Knox does have more room to grow, but Mikal is also the better shooter, defender and overall player by a good margin...at least in college

how is that bold...its mad obvious he is...his main knock is only his shot really.

Seems like people like Knox more. I don’t. I guess that’s the bold part? Also had the question mark in there because I’m not sure how bold it is.

He’s also a turnover machine in transition.

Brown is less the athlete and his scoring potential is not as high imo, plus he played for oregon so most never saw him which i think plays a part. I remember there was a time dude would not even get a highlight on youtube.

I agree Knox makes more noise in here and on most mock drafts, But skill wise TBJ is much better than Knox.

After I put out the second round prospect video today, LiAngelo Ball (yep) video today or tomorrow, and Elie Okobo tomorrow probably, Brown is my next guy.

Also, yah, athleticism vertically isn't that great, but I like his first step a bit.

You can’t because it took Mikal 3 years until he was 21 to show the scoring ability that Knox showed at 18 years of age.

Knox is also bigger (in height and in stature) as well as being stronger all while being 3 years younger.

Knox has more potential because he has more time to develop. By the time Knox is 22, then you can compare 22 year old Knox to 22 year old rookie Mikal Bridges.


At the end of the day, you don’t get drafted based on how good you are, you get drafted based on how good you are and how good you can be.

Because he’s young and has a pretty long wingspan (sounds like someone on our team). In all seriousness for a kid who started playing at 15 he’s farther along then he should be.

frank has a translatable elite skill when he came into the league. Knox while there is potential what is really good at?

He runs around screens really well. I'd consider that a skill. Aside from that, it's all hit or miss banking on potential.
