OT: World Cup 2018 thread

Post#1 » by matchman » Thu Jun 14, 2018 8:14 am

A World Cup without Italy, Netherlands and USA is really a special one.

For this time I really want Messi to win once and for all, although I know it is a long shot.
Are you fans of the team or the player?

I would like an African or Asian nation to go far at least. I think Senegal can do good.

Anyway, out of all the favorites, I'm going for Argentina.

Define what's far. Out of those two continents only Senegal have a chance to reach quaterfinals. For rest of them, advancing from group stage would be success.

I'm gonna support Iceland. I mean look at tattoo of their captain. How can you not love them?

This is gonna be said through infinity and it's never gonna happen. So much talent but Hazard plays like he has an invisibility cloak that also takes away his skills in these types of games.

That pissed me off. Martinez is the only thing that is holding them back IMO. They still have so much talent though. Hazard, De Bruyne, Mertens, Dembele, Lukaku and two rocks in the back in Alderweireld and Vertonghen. Just don't see how you hold that kind of squad down for 90 minutes. I'm going with them but this year is wide open. You can make legitimate cases for like 5-8 teams to win it all.
My original pick was France but after I saw them play like dog chit against what was essentially the US under 23 squad i've soured on them a tad bit.

I think Belgium's the surprise team that shouldn't really surprise anybody too. Rooting for Colombia though and I would love to see another Messi run but that ends with winning the big game.

Couldn't have expressed it better myself.
Shocked at some of the teams not competing this year. Gotta root for Messi to win it all!

Germany KICKED Brasil's butt last time, lost to France after going through the most BRUTAL bracket (Spain and Italy back to back)...

Germany ALL the Way. Brasil is the Spurs. Their time has come. Still good but no longer feared.
