Redrafting the 2017 NBA draft

Monk showed flashes of being able to shoot, make plays and he had a couple highlight athletic plays. People act like a rookie year is everything. No way did Ingram, Butler, Paul George, Steve Nash, Monta Ellis... ever figure it out after a BAD rookie year.

We played the worst player in the nba over him last year hahaha. I’m not saying he figures it out all the way, but can we give him some benefit of the doubt? He did lead the Sec in scoring as a freshman and he has been in the gym all summer. He is sooooo young.

Agreed, we regularly eviscerated Kemba for his inefficiency in his early years and he was older than Monk was at the time.

If Monk is still being picked top 15, this must be the worst rookie class of all time because he had a deplorable year.

So did Lonzo, Josh Jackson, DSJr, Fox, Fultz, Ntilikina, Isaac, Zach Collins, Kennard, etc.

I gave an advantage to guys who were already reasonably productive, or straight up good in a few cases, but projection and potential were still a big factor.

No John Collins then? Productive rookie(made 2nd team all rookie team) and still has high upside. Dont see any way he wouldn’t be at worst a lottery pick in a redraft. He was better than Isaac, Bam and Jarrett Allen for sure.

I initially just made a big board and had John Collins somewhere in the 11-13 range, but when I made the picks for the actual teams I somehow ended up leaving him out. Nitilikina, Monk, and DSjr got bumbed up a little due to team needs and I had to pick two of Bam, Allen, and Collins, for the last two spots. Its arguable the Jazz and Heat would both take him over another center.

I like Collins and thought he should have gone lottery even before the draft and the season happened.

Its not like teams would look at someone like Monk and think that since he had a bad rookie year as a 19 year old theyd be better off with some 22 year old dude drafted in the 20-40 range who managed to carve out a role as a decent 9th man, but has no real upside to get excited about.
