^^ most are borderline D1 caliber players. Just high school hopefuls. Not even close to NBA level talent. This is the problem is that he doesn't even jump out you against high school kids. I could see if he looked like Akron Lebron or something, but he looks like nothing special to me.

I couldn't agree more. Too bad it's all we have of Porter other than two games of college from a couple of months ago where he looked undraftable and blamed it on back pain. That was 5 months after his surgery. Wow. just another reason to love the kid.

2 things it is a little unfair to get on high school studs. Chucking, and defense. Especially in this era of shrinking NBA defense. They almost never play sound defense, and they take too many shots, selfish shots and bad shots. It is par for the course. They have to be coached on technique going forward, and they have to be coachable. That is the $60,000 projection. If James Harden can learn a little, and find a team role, anything is possible.

I was wrong about Lauri and whether it was good scouting or just luck, they made the best choice. That said, if MPJ is on the board and GarPax passes then they weren’t confident in his back or some other flaw in his game and the same goes for young. If we end up w Mikal at the end, I will give Garpax the benefit of the doubt as I think they’ve earned it. I can’t say I agreed with every move they’ve made but I do understand why they made the move (with the exception of bell).
He got minutes in the finals. He looks like a contender-level role player. That would have made him probably our 2nd best player after Lauri going forward (hopefully 3rd after the #7). We could have had him on a cheap 4-year deal.
Wow, jesus. Our 2nd best player after Lauri?
Jordan Bell? If JB is the 2nd best player on your team going forward, you severely lack assets and have completely underwhelming talent to begin with, aside from Lauri.
So your saying Jordan Bell is better than anyone on the Bulls outside of Lauri as well, I take it?

Jordan Bell is the kind of role player every team needs to round out the roster, but let's not kid ourselves...if he is your 2nd best player you are not winning many games....ever. i don't see him being better than Zach, Dunn, Bobby or close to it
He is Nwaba level contributor, and that's not a bad thing. We get it, it sucks that we dumped him for cash, but its over..time to move on. We need franchise altering talent at #7 and a potential starter at #22. If we get that, no one will look back and regret trading a second round role player last year.

It was a given he was going to tank his draft stock. He shouldn't have been playing. Totally out of shape, and too soon. He knew that and played anyway. It's a credit to his character to put team ahead of his NBA career. There are other things to critique him with that are fair game.

Denzel's going to be good, Portis is going to be even better. Nwaba was GREAT pick up & they may have even been right about Cameron Payne, who showed admirable signs in Fred's system. Lauri is going to be legend.
I trust Paxson & co. when it comes to draft picks. I expect the 22nd pick to be an excellent selection as well.
Seriously? Drafted
2013 Tony Snell
2012 Marquis Teague
2010 Kevin Seraphin and traded him and Hinrich for a trade exemption
2009 James Johnson took 5 years before he was anything for other teams
2007 Aaron Gray 2nd round
They make mistakes and let's not even go into trades for Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden or FA signings that were awful
And sometimes they hit home runs.
2011 Cleveland had the 1 and 4 pick
Bulls had 28(James Johnson)and 30. Cleveland got kyrie and Tristan Thompson. Bulls got Niko and Butler. What do they have to show for it now?
Cleveland: way over payed Tristan Thompson and the 8th pick
Bulls: Lavine, Dunn, Lauri, and the 22nd pick. Not bad. Gar for retroactive 2011 GM of the year.

Bro can you all please stop posting the same video over and over. I think Johnnykillroy has posted this video several times already. I could easily post the two games this season where Doncic looked absolutely horrid when he went against a team full of athletes and got bitched. Could not create anything, committed a hell amount of turnovers, and got abused on defense. We understand you don’t like Porter, a lot of Knowledgeable people do. I have severe concerns about Doncic but I can see things he can bring to a team. Same with Porter Jr. there are things he needs to clean up but I can see ways that he can be effective.

Many of us will be disappointed, but don't let your own scouting via YouTube get in the way of supporting our new man for a season.
As Bulls fans, we're fickle (Chicago fans in general) so I feel the need to remind folks about this.
Thursday can't come soon enough.
Many of us will do that. Many won't. And they'll be waiting for the pick to fail.
Time to bring up one of my favorite draft night posts, repeated often "Noah will never play center in the NBA". Not to mention the trashing Taj took.
The Markkanen pick was also pretty hated.

Bro 50 percent of your posts on these draft threads has been about your dislike of the Bulls drafting Porter. You just said you’d be sick to your stomach if the Bulls drafted him. It’s like man get over it. If we draft him it’s because Pax thinks he’s the bpa.
I’m not creating thread after thread about how Mikal doesn’t do this right, posting the same vids over and over again about the guy, saying I’ll be sick to my stomach if so and so player is a Bull, etc.
I just hope whoever we draft everyone supports as he’s now part of our family and I don’t have to hear useless posts about how he’s the wrong choice for another couple months until the season starts.
Just remember whoever we draft is no where near a finished product. Go Bulls!
I have not created any threads either... Most of my posts are in response to people acting like this kid is the next coming of Kevin Durant. I've posted that game for the first time. Somebody else posted it last time, I just responded to it. Since it's the only full game footage we have of him in an actual game I think it's relevant in a draft thread like this one. Especially when it was last around was a few weeks ago not even in this thread.
I'll keep bashing the prospect of that pick until we make it or don't . So, get over yourself and get used to it. Sorry I'm not as agreeable on the matter as over 50% of the board. It's a big wave to have to fight. I'm not comfortable with him as our pick at 7 or 22. I think it's a waste of a draft pick. One we wasted an entire season losing for. So, it's a big deal to me.
Well yeah Im a Porter supporter but comparing him to Durant is wrong. HIs handles and quickness at the same age aren't equivalent at all. But that's okay, Im not expecting him to be a top 2 player in the NBA. But I will say Porter has a chance to be a 25 ppg. He is that gifted offensively especially for his height. I think people lose sight of how tall this kid is and how he can still grow. What he can do at that height is pretty impressive, he is basically 6'11". Look how Durant killed the Cavs and Rockets by pulling up for easy Js over his defender using his height advantage. Yes Porter doesnt have the wingspan of Durant but coming out of college he did measure taller than Durant, while having a very high release.
Durant- 6'10 in shoes
MPJ- 6'10 ¾" in shoes

25 point scorer? Why do you think that? I ask because there is usually around or less than 10 players every season who scores 25 points per game. Point being, you need usually be a top tier player if he were to be one, and like you said, he doesn't have the handles or quickness.
I think he has the opportunity to be a scorer, but unlike you, I could see him being a 15-19 point scorer relatively quickly, but he won't ever be a top level scorer unless he improves his handles significantly.
Why so serious?

I agree MPJ and Kevin Durrant comparisons are way off base. MPJ is no Durrant. But this is a message board. You have people comparing Ayton to Hakeem, Young to Curry. People are even comparing Doncic to the likes of Bird, Harden, Nash. Doncic doesn’t have near the shooting ability of Bird it’s just a blasphemous comparison. He doesn’t have the speed or quickness, ballhandling or shooting as NASH. And doesn’t have the iso/creation ability of Harden. People
Just make lake lazy comparisons all of the time. Let these kids develop and make there own path.

Today? He probably would be in the contender sense. We frankly don't have a lot of guys who warrant minutes on a contender.
Lauri should grow into that and then some. We're hoping the #7 pick should be that. Lavine could be that if he gets his **** together and embraces the 6th man role. But other than them? We've got nobody who would get minutes on a good team.
