He'll probably be ROY but down the line in 3-5 years I think Bamba has serious potential to be the best player in the draft; possibly a rich-mans Rudy Gobert

Suns probably trying to get a Danny ainge type of trade. Stay in top 5 plus pick up another potential top 5 pick.

There are no guarantee shaq/lebron overall number 1 picks in this draft.

Teams are going to regret not taking Mamba. He may not be a great scorer but as long as he continues to work on his jumper and spreads the defense, he's going to handful on both ends of the court.

Doncic probably highest IQ player for sure. Ayton probably best offensive player for sure. Both a guy who has POTENTIAL to be dominant on BOTH ends of the floor is Mo Bamba. I'd say he has the highest ceiling and if he comes close to reaching it..he'll be the best one.

Man this is the 3rd thread today I've seen that has a thread title that asks one thing, and a poll that asks another...

Is Ayton the consensus #1: Yes
Who will be the best player in the draft? Much more loaded question.

- Ayton: most likely the best, definitely the safest
- Doncic: I think people are wary about a Euro being the best pick. Hasnt happened since 2001/1998
- Porter: don't sleep on him because of injury. He absolutely looked the part of a young KD
- JJ Jr. : this guy is crazy good and should have been a top 5er all along, somehow is inexplicably comped to Shareef Abdur Rahim (wtf)

I think if Porter stays healthy, he's most impactful player. But I doubt he will, so I'd say its JJ Jr. But really of those 4.. how can you go wrong?

The Boy wrote:I dont think his defense will be an issue like Towns

Could be although this still doesn't have to mean much. But he also has a lot to work on in order to become as good as Towns offensively. He'll have to find a way to really make use of his athleticism in order to make up for the relative lack of touch compared to KAT.

I believe Ayton is a good prospect worthy of being drafted in the top 5, but I do not see a franchise changing player in him. He has a chance to get there, of course, but I don't see it as a realistic expectation given his flaws or deficiencies that should limit his impact in the NBA to some degree – enough not to reach superstardom.

I’d rank Doncic as a Top 25 asset in the league. He’s an exciting future superstar you can build a franchise around. I wouldn’t rank Ayton in the Top 60. He didn’t impress me in college, and I really don’t see what’s special about him at all. He kinda reminds me of Enes Kanter.

He will go number one, but any of Ayton, Doncic, Bamba, Porter, Bagley could turn out to be the best in this class.

And am I the only one who thinks Mo Bamba won’t necessarily be the best player in the draft ?

The crop in this draft is just so dynamic, I’m betting that Ayton does not fit as well in the new NBA as others may think.

Many here had Fultz as the #1 overall draft choice...

Also, is Doncic the white James Harden?

No you're not the only one. Bamba's ceiling is sky high, and I think he can reach it. Not a knock on Ayton though, as Ayton will get the offense run through him from day one. Doncic is going to be awesome, but I think he's scared away a bunch of teams due to his buyout clause and the need for many of these high lottery teams to select a player that can contribute right away. Rather than potentially stashing a player like Doncic that could wind up not coming to the NBA for a couple years like Rubio or Mirotic, I think his slide on recent draft boards is due to things outside of his basketball skill which is a shame.

Which player projects the best is a complete toss up, much more so than many drafts in previous years. It's all about fit, and if the correct team selects the player that fits their style nad culture best, then many of these high level prospects can thrive.

Ayton. He could roll and finish like Capela/Jordan/Howard. His spot up is improving. If his spot up ever reach a level of a Frye or Anderson I can comfortably say he's the best offensive big. KAT would still have argument for his skillset(if AD is a 7 FT Marion KAT is a 7 FT Glen Rice, fluidity included) but in a system/role like Clint he would rack up.
With that said I think Luka is the second best player. Speaking of a Rockets like system. If I'm the Sun's. With my picks and anyone not named Booker/Ayton/maybe Jackson I put everything on the table for Luka. You need a core Booker/Ayton/Luka would be a younger Rockets core. Younger and a larger window to tweak the system and get the role players necessary.

Ayton was my #1 before his recent statements about basketball being "work" Now I'm not so sure, because passion for the game is important.

As for Doncic, from what I have seen he is by far the best 5 on 5 basketball player in this draft. There may be guys who jump higher and shoot better, but no one who understands the game better. He's the White Ben Simmons with a shot, not the White James Harden.

People said the same thing about Drummond.

Ayton will go number 1.

Drummond isn't #1 pick level tho

Ayton has the most two way potential in this draft. Unless he has mental/confidence issues that's the player you always take when you're drafting number one. That said there's a possibility that Doncic, Bagley, Jackson, Bamba, and Porter could end up becoming better players. Where you're drafted and luck play a major role in how players end up developing.

He shouldn’t be. Bigs who don’t play defense are the biggest detriment to teams. The league is ran by wings and guards.

Ayton is the biggest superstar or bust candidate in my opinion.
Doncic will be great, methinks.
