ayton is the safest pick. he'll add 1 win to the column.

he did squat for zona but when did that stop anybody. and athletic centers seem to have a high success rate. all they have to do is run and dunk, average near 10rpg. get a block here and there, and everybody's happy. all he has to do is look really athletic and everyone will envision an unlimited ceiling - let their imagination go craaaazy.

luckily, the suns decision to pass on Doncic or not holds water because they have the most insight on him in coach Igor

Here's what the Suns coach had to say about him

Oden over Durant is already this generation’s Bowie over Jordan.

Oden was an incredible talent. He actually played very well his first couple NBA seasons before getting injured after being healthy his one season at Ohio State. Taking him #1 was a pretty reasonable choice for Portland. Just bad luck it didn’t work out. If he’d even been drafted by a team with a better medical staff he might have won multiple MVPs.

Ayton vs. Doncic is completely different. Ayton has a lower floor and a lower ceiling. He’s just a lesser talent all around. I really don’t see what’s supposed to be special about him at all.

Really? Sorry. I like Doncic. I think he is going to be a great player. But that last sentence flies in the face of sanity.

He is going to be the #1 overall but don't see him ending up the better player then someone like Doncic. I see his ceiling as a poor mans KAT, might be harsh to say that, I don't think he would be far away from him just not as good.

I just don't see him ever putting up the same shooting numbers/percentages that KAT does, now I haven't followed him in college since I don't watch it but I have seen clips of his defensive shortcomings and they are atrocious. This guy has even less defensive awarness than KAT if that is possible, he is a training cone on the defensive end and to add insult to injury he is a worse shot blocker. I just can't understand how he can be so bad with his atributes he should easily be elite and have the potential to become one of the best defenders in the league, makes me envious when i see players like him and KAT that have propitious to be good on that end. I am a jokic fan and he is like the least atletic guy in the whole league but has great defensive awarness just not the body to keep up like those two have for ex.
