Kevin Knox Sr., Knox’s father and manager, told The Post he believes the Knicks are considering taking his son with the ninth pick in Thursday’s draft. According to an NBA source, Knox got the better of Michigan State’s Miles Bridges, another projected lottery pick, in their joint workout for the Knicks nine days ago.

“He had a terrific workout, even kicked around Miles Bridges, who is a couple of years older than him,’’ said the NBA source.

Some fyi...

1)Troy Brown Jr. Is the same age as Knox.. and was a leader of Oregon. Played 4 position for them and was mainly the guy bring the ball up and setting up the offense for others...and also play very good defense. No one is reaching for TB at #9..

2)Miles is only one yr older, and better than him in every category and skill.

3)Troy Williams is only 23 yrs old... I highly doubt Knox can put up TWill type numbers he had with us. So between having THJ, TWill and maybe another vet SF... Knox might not get much playing time.

So basically you all want him because he is 6'9 212lbs with a 7'0 wing and 19 (August 11)....... and ball out on one or two workouts....

LOL....SMH

Your expecting an alpha @9? youll be highly disappointed every player you look at then unless we get porter and he pans as that #1 player he was projected to be because every single guy excluding Troy williams im going to pretend he's not a name that was just mentioned. :) but every player you just listed is role player material 3rd options maybe 2nd if there lucky. if they become a secondary option on offense thats a straight up steal pick.

Porter - MAYBE allstar, high risk,, high reward
Young- MAYBE allstar, high risk high reward
sexton - Maybe boarder line allstar

if any of Miles, Mikal, Wendell, knox, troy brown, lonnie, carter is your teams alpha

Image

There all more than likely 3rd options on a good team and possible 2nd options if they hit there ceiling and even if they hit there ceiling probably still a 3rd option at best

The alpha section is in the top 3 Ayton, Bagley, Doncic assuming they live up to the hype.

That's a horrible post. You never know where an Alpha leader will be drafted. Draymon, Mitchell, Oakley, Starks, Mason, Ginobli, and tons of others have that mentality and it has very little to do with draft position. To me, Knox looks soft as tissue. He'll make Tim Thomas look like Barkley.

Like I wanted Mikal because he is clearly skilled but I understand going with a risk/reward player Knox when we are so far behind roster talent wise from teams like the Bucks, Celtics, and 76ers. If Knox reaches his potential as a legit offensive threat and they can draft another high-end player next year, maybe they can shrink that gulf in talent a lot sooner and become competitive.

Why do you think his potential is higher? I really don’t see it...? Maybe a small chance. I also think his bust potential is way higher.

The UK effect, and what we're hearing from workouts.

UK is notorious for limiting its players potential in game due to bad schemes. Also this year at 6'9 he was the only guy on that team who could shoot. UK had a 6'9 18 year old running over screens to get open and shoot. There is definitely something there talent wise.

Then to add to the fact that in workouts he is getting over on Miles holds weight. Miles is another lottery pick who was up until this week of one-on-ones ahead of Knox on all draft boards. I like that, for all the people who complain about how we didn't take mitchell. Lets recognize the fact he was killing it in workouts and we took Frank because of his potential. Knox seems like a happy compromise of the two. He has potential and has been killing it in workouts.

The UK effect is not a given. Booker was an elite shooter in college, Knox was not. Booker was more assertive given his role, whereas Knox was passive as the pseudo #1 option.

He was the only guy who could shoot, and yet he was in the 44th percentile on catch and shoots. HIs shot was inconsistent/streaky at best. I agree that his ability to run over screens is impressive and his off ball movement in general was great, but he had no creativity for himself, no handle, lolly gagged through games, poor defensive awareness (although he closed out with the correct hand, which is cool to see), and could not finish in the paint at all. 55% at the rim in half court, and very little touch generally (and he rarely used his left hand).

Sure, it's possible he really was hampered by Kentucky...but he has major holes in his game, stuff that had nothing to do with Kentucky. Him killing workouts is cool, but Mitchell showed way more in college on both sides of the ball than Knox did (admittedly, he was a sophomore).

Potential, sure; major bust rate, absolutely.

And if he is a bust? What does that do for us? How far does that set us back? Do we start losing credibility in KP's eyes? We have to hit on AT LEAST a high level starter who won't need to be replaced. Dreams of getting a superstar and gambling on the pick is a fool's errand. Way too much to lose.....

That guy will have a new Knox video with examples today, I think? Rumor is, he has too much video in general and is busy outside of draft stuff.

Edit - he might be able to post examples though, worst case scenario.

All this stuff about needing Alpha's is crazy. What you need are warriors...guys who go to war and have each other's backs. No shrinking violets.

From SI's latest mock (which I hope proves wrong):

9.New York Knicks KNICKS: COLLIN SEXTON, PG, ALABAMA | FR.
Height: 6'1" | Weight: 185 | Age: 19 | Last: 12
Stats: 19.2 PPG, 3.6 APG, 33.6% 3FG

There’s a growing sense that the Knicks have zeroed in on drafting a point guard at this spot, in spite of their clearer need for help on the wing. New York is high on Trae Young, but doesn’t expect him to be on the board at 9. Given Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s similarities to Frank Ntilikina, who it seems will continue to spend time playing off the ball next season, Sexton makes sense here. His ability to get into the paint and fearlessness on the big stage are a good fit with the Knicks, who took fliers on Trey Burke and Emmanuel Mudiay but have neither under contract past 2019. Sexton has a lot of growth to do in order to run a team as a starting guard, but New York can afford him some time to figure it out. If they do opt for a wing, Kevin Knox’s name has come up as a candidate.

Mikal will not be the BPA come draft night. One of Carter, Porter or Young might end up falling. If Carter is there you take him without hesitation. You have yourself a high quality Center for the next 10+ years. If Porter is there you trade back a couple of picks to someone who really wants him and pick up more assets and draft whichever of Mikal, Knox or Miles is left.

L.A. Clippers trade sixth man Lou Williams, small forward Wes Johnson and Nos. 12 and 13 picks in 2018 to New York Knicks for 3-and-D wing Courtney Lee, point guard Trey Burke and the No. 9 pick in 2018.
