These players didn't avg 20+ until the following age:
Kawhi - 24

Jimmy Butler - 25
CJ McCollum - 24
Oladipo - 25
Kemba - 25
Lowry - 29
Derozan - 24
Middleton - 26

Just players i could think of so I am sure theres a lot more. If you follow the Mikal trending curve it was still going up. Maybe he is not at his peak and will continue. He has a lot of the tools and signs I would look for. Maybe, or maybe not. I just wouldn't def cap his ceiling.

Of course he improves, but I don't ever see him becoming a "I can create my own shot" kind of guy. Not terrible, but depending on who is there at 9 in this deep of a draft, you got to make sure you get the pick right.

I dunno. I like Bridges because he sounds like a guy this team needs. Plays defense, can hit 3's, good teammate etc. I don't know much about Knox other than he is all of a sudden this top sleeper prospect in the draft. I may be wrong but I want a guy that can help now. I've been waiting for too long.

I understand your frustration, but we really don't want someone who will help us win now.

we want to draft someone who is strategically trash and contributes to losing, then becomes a winner?

what's wrong with someone who's already a winner and improves upon that?

League sources said recently that Bamba is in the mix at two to the Kings, four to Grizzlies, five to Mavericks, six to the Magic and seven to the Bulls. The problem is he doesn’t seem to be the first or second option to any of those teams at this point.
According to league sources there continues to be questions about how his offensive game fits into the modern NBA, and with more versatile guys sitting at the top of the draft, Bamba is looking more like the consolation prize later in the draft. You will be hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn’t think Bamba will be a monster defensively in the NBA, but the question remains which team is drafting defense at the top of the board?

If there is a player outside of the top five that could tumble a little, it might be Bamba, especially if the Mavericks pass at five.

Seems too good for Chicago to pass up to pair with Mark but they might be dead set on taking Porter Jr. I would take Bamba in a heartbeat. KP-Bamba frontcourt is something to drool over.

Compare Mikal at 18 to Knox at 18. Huge advantage for Knox. Not saying he's the pick, or that I want him, but you wanting Mikal over Knox shows you would take a guy who at 21 is a far better player than at 18. That is one reason we would take Knox. He's pretty good now and they might project he is better than Mikal at the same age of 21.

Bingo. And his workouts show he is already improving.
Knox is better than Mikal offensively, but the difference on defense is just as big, and we know Mikal has been improving his offensive game, whereas Knox is still mostly potential at this point

I lean slightly to Mikal, just cause I like to build teams defense first

Yeah I don't get the logic. Sounds like you might as well not draft anyone at all. This forum has been pro-tank for many years. It hasn't worked. Mikal is still my guy.

Frank Ntilikina looks like a monster. I think he's definitely going to have a grown spurt physically and mentally. Always supported Frank because you're going to need big guard to handle the Bill Simmons every season.

There is nothing wrong with it but Mikal seems like a better late lottery option for a team on the playoff brink like with Mitchell last year. He is a high end roll player which is great but the Knicks need something more.

The Knicks haven't leaked anything. Knox's dad did.

And we don't even know if that's their intention.

So them leaking their intentions to Knox's dad doesn't qualify? He's not included in "everyone"? Especially when they know he could possibly leak it further? Added to the other sources that reported even before his dad spoke on it?

It seems like the franchise never has a clue how to play things close to the chest. Knicks gonna Knicks.....

Unless it's all just a smokescreen to fluff up Knox into a top 8 pick to let someone else drop who might not have been there for them. Knox's defense still concerns me.

Nothing at all. Not mutually exclusive.

However, for purposes of the rebuild, I'd rather select the prospect who is more raw and has higher upside, than the one who is more NBA-ready with a lower ceiling.

We will still be terrible next year with KP out and very little talent otherwise on this roster. It thus doesn't seem like our goal should be to escape awfulness and approach mediocrity in 2018/19.

Instead, let's remain awful for one more year as Frank and the 9th pick develop, and Fiz instills a sustainable culture, so we will be in a good position to add one more attractive long-term piece with a top 5 pick in the 2019 draft.

With those pieces in the fold, we can then make an aggressive play for an elite free agent next summer (i.e. Kyrie) to try and be competitive in 19/20 when KP will hopefully be back to 100%.

Seems like the better long-term approach to me.

I think it depends. Mikal showed some signs in the pick n roll and post up situations. He is great at coming off screens and can get his shot off in those situations. He may never be a good iso player, but I don’t think that’s too bad of a flaw. In basic plays he can get his shot up.

On the other end, I am not sure things such as defensive intensity, motor, and toughness can be improved a ton if we are looking at Knox. He can still be good, but he has his flaws that may limit his upside as well. I prefer a player with Mikal’s characteristics and skill set.

Exactly. Which is why they will likely take a higher risk higher reward player over him unless someone suprisingly drops like perhaps Porter, Young and Carter

And this right here is why I give the VERY SLIGHT edge to Knox over Mikal. After seeing Frank bulk up, I truly believe he can play small forward and a versatile power forward becomes our biggest need.

Just got off the phone with Frankie. He's friends with one of Elie Okobo's teammate, who watched my video and said it was "100% spot on." That's pretty awesome.
