Yeah, it was kind of funny...he talked a lot...he played for Jimmy V at NC St (not much I guess) https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/phil-weber-1.html
Also talked about how he ran a basketball camp with Kiki Vandeweghe.
A few years later I moved to Denver and worked for a company that had a suite at the Pepsi Center so we went to a Nuggets game and in comes Kiki (same guy running the NBA Draft Lottery now) during the game just wanting to know if we were all having a good time and I mentioned Phil Weber so we talked for a while. My new boss who was sitting there was kind of just looking at me incredulously after he left "How do you know the GM of the Nuggets?"
LOL!! That happened to me when I was 18. I was at a Raiders/Bears game in LA and before the game started I told staff security to tell Michael Haynes my uncle said hello. He played with him when they were on the Patriots. They guy walked across the field and told him and over walks Michael Haynes to me and a couple of friends that I worked with. He talked to me and asked how my uncle was doing. Lmao! He was so cool and my friends were blown away, as I was, but didn't show it.
Funny thing about Kiki Vandeweghe, when I was younger my parents had a party or some friends over at the house or something. Well someone that came over wanted to talk to me because my Dad brought up that I was a huge NBA fan. The guy mentioned he was good friends with Kiki Vandeweghe and wanted to test my basketball knowledge and I answered whatever question he asked. I then went to my room and brought out some vintage 1990 basketball card of Kiki, and the guy said he'd get it signed for me. He never gave it back to me though. This was probably close to 20 years ago now.
That’s messed up. Kiki was a Bruin!

My guess Brooklyn does that deal. In this or another thread they were willing to take salary to move up.
Somebody here mentioned Dudley 16 for Dinwiddie 29
Maybe Wiz do Gortat Morris 15 for Demarre Carroll and 29 or just Kief and 15 for 29

The answer to that question is also the answer to who we should take with the #1 as well.
David Robinson's little brother.

No point to grabbing another draft pick in that range unless we have a deal to move up for a player we love. I think that player would be Shai. But I also don't think we would take Markieff back in any circumstance whatsoever, so we would need to move him to a third team. I'm also not down to take Gortat back unless Chandler or Dudley were somehow involved. I'd do it for Jason Smith, but #31 + #59 for Smith + #15 isn't good value for the Wiz.
I doubt the talent differential between 16 and, say, 9, is worth giving up a whole lot. I like the idea of adding a Bridges to this team if we're making other moves, but you're talking about wholesale changes in that case that I don't think are generally advisable.
To my mind, it's pretty clear that we're best off building on Booker-Ayton-Jackson-Warren-Bender-Chriss-Harrison-Knight. You add a free agent PG to that group, a guard with starter potential at 16 or even 31, and if you can, a veteran small PF, and you have a team that should reach the playoffs if they play the right way. If you manage the cap well, you could go after a PG in 2019 free agency if Knight continues to disappoint and if your 16/31 selection doesn't look like they'll be taking the reins anytime soon. That class will include Rubio, Walker, Beverley, Rozier (RFA), Wright (RFA), Tyus Jones (RFA), McConnell (RFA) and Brogdon (RFA).
So in my view, none of this is worth considering unless we're moving up specifically for Shai. Even then, I'm not sure it's worth it. Depends on if we're okay delaying any big free agent adds until next year. That means likely passing on a guy like Evans, Gay, Randle, Anderson, Bradley, Ariza, Smart, Favors, Exum, Mbah a Moute and Thad Young - any of whom would improve this team.
So IDK. Maybe. We obviously don't want MORE draft picks, so we're just talking about taking on salary to move up.
At the end of the day, I think one of Okobo or DiVincenzo will be the pick at #16 if we're not moving the pick (though I don't know why Khyri apparently is not being considered this high by anyone).

The Spurs drafted one above average player in the last 15 years.

1st pick Tra Holder
16th pick Vitaly Shibel
31st pick Dustan Ristic
58th pick DeAndre Ayton
Book it guaranteed 10000% chance that's happening.
Need some insanity for all the mock drafts I've seen lol

I like the idea of comparing sports to music.
Baseball--Old Country, cowboy music. (Slow, casual, who cares how long it takes)
Football--Sousa marches (orchestrated, coordinated)
Basketball--Jazz (instinctive, improvisation)
Hockey--Heavy Metal (a fight looking for a song)

OK. So. What is your ideal draft? Include your projected trade up or whatever.
For me, if we could walk away with Ayton/Doncic or Ayton/Young, I would be absolutely thrilled.
#16, #31, take a bad contract, and additional future picks if necessary to get it done. I am good with that.

On average they've been picking like at 27th, so they've been crushing compared to their picks.gaspar wrote:The Spurs drafted one above average player in the last 15 years.
