I think a lot of Magic fans suffer from recency bias with draft picks. Because we've drafted more athletes than shooters the past few years and the team has been bad, I think people are reluctant to look at half of the top prospects that other boards/forums rank so highly.
But it's not like our draft picks have been bad, we just sucked at creating a good team, stability, environment, etc.
My point is that I think we shouldn't turn our nose up at players that aren't Trae Young just because we do need shooting. All I want us to do is draft the player we think will be the best player in the future and who can be an all-star for us. Also if we do take a "reach", it would be nice to acquire some nice assets to move back a little if we predict that player to be in that position.
Exactly.
The players Orlando has acquired don’t make sense together cohesively as a team. There has been no identity since Dwight and Stan left. Orlando needs everything with the exception of cutting into playing time for Isaac and a possibly maxed AG.
People are completely sold on Trae because Orlando lacks offensive firepower and playmaking. However, I think SGA and possibly Sexton could be more complete basketball players. That being said, I’ve always been in the camp of providing rookies with ample playing time and opportunity, so I understand why management is looking at all point guard options - Simons, Sexton, SGA, and Young.

The biggest mistake we made was not listening to Skiles on Elfrid.

And doing what? Trading him after coming off of a good rookie season? The biggest mistake we made around that time was trading Tobias for garbage to appease Skiles even though he knew he was taking over a young team.

- Finding a better PG option while his he still had a semblance of value maybe?
- That opens up the door for a completely different direction - mainly no Bismack contract one would hope.
- I wasn't a fan either of the Tobias trade but I could understand it in the context.

I've seen some here not wanting Doncic, and comparing to Mario.

Is having a Bledsoe 2.0 suppose to be a complement for Sexton?

I mean it's easy to say that now when we traded him for a 2nd round pick, but keep in mind this was when like 90% of the forum still really liked Payton. It would not have been a popular move, just like the Tobias move wasn't popular either.
I didn't understand it then or now. We were a ridiculously young team that needed their young guys to play together and we refused to run any sort of "future" lineup. Package our younger guys together if we want to move them, but trading them for scraps is one thing I will never get.
My ideal move during those times was to not trade any of those guys. Oladipo, Payton, AG, Tobias, etc. Just let them play. If there's contract issues, then we can discuss things but when we start trading pieces separately then the value of them goes down. Oladipo and Sabonis for Ibaka in hindsight is laughable value wise. Same with Tobias for Jennings/Ilyasova.
Hawks smokescreen. They’re not taking Trae over JJJ or Bambajrjr1229 wrote:Hawks just made Shroeder available for trade, so it is true they are picking Young, we still can make a trade with Hawks to take MPJr...
As it stands now...
1) Ayton
2) Bagley
3) Young
4) Doncic
5) MPJr
6) WCJr or Sexton or JJJ or Bamba
guys this is not a good sign, all reports indicating Sexton/JJJ/WCJr.
1 of those 3 will make me puke. WCJr will just be an okay pick I won't puke on him, but JJJ and sexton for sure i will puke out food from 3 days ago.

Let me guess
- We are exploring all options
- Trading up OR Trading Down
- We think there are good players in this draft
etc, etc, etc,
