Re: The Draft Thread 3: #1 Pick Discussion
The Phoenix Suns have the #1 pick in the draft! Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!
I still can't get over it. Best off-season ever! We have had some excitement before. But never after sucking for so long. Let me say it again.

The whole world can kma.

I had Young going like 12 or 13 in my mock. I won't be surprised if he starts tumbling, he keeps tumbling because others have been targeted. I think there is a good chance Shai goes before him and if Sexton does, he could really fall....if the Clips passed on him, he doesn't seem like an ideal pick for Denver or Washington (though those picks, and the Clips picks, may be traded).
I wouldn't be surprised if something like 12 and 13 and Harris for 3 and then the Hawks nab Young if he falls that far...to 12...end up with like Tobias Harris, Trae Young and Robert Williams or something.
I don't think the Hawks would take a pu-pu platter for #3. All signs point to them going full tank and trading Bazemore and Schroder, so I don't think they'd be interested in Harris's soon-to-be expiring contract.
I have a hard time understanding why Young would drop that far, but you know how high I am on him lol.

Hopefully something works out. For some reason I'm not gonna be happy with just Ayton and whoever we could grab at 16 lol

It's funny, Givony already had him at like 12 or something in his mock...it impacted how I did mine...now I guess maybe he called it correctly.
I think he's the type of prospect that people will want to take, but at the last minute they might get nervous taking him too high over others and go with someone else.

My roommate told me he heard we're trying to trade 16, 31, Chriss and Warren to Cleveland for #8. Anyone else hear this?

Did he tell you where he heard it?
I wonder if we have Shai or Trae higher.

Yeah, I think Hawks could move down but I think they'd want something like Orlando's pick and their 1st next year or something. I think they are playing games saying they can't decide between Doncic, JJJr or Bagley to make other teams want to move up...to see what they will give up...but I don't know that they'd want to drop that far.

I wonder who we would target at that range. that's a lot to give up for #8. Maybe we move #8 and next year's pick for an even better pick? I still wish we would take Doncic #1 and then find a trade for a big man. At least this is an exciting time no matter what happens

That's definitely not happening.

I don't think the Hawks pass on Doncic if he's there at #3, but I could see them trading back to #6 or #7 to grab an extra asset and Trae Young at a more reasonable spot if he's gone. It's tough to call though, it seems like draft rumors have been all over the place because no one knows what the Kings will pull.

He said 98.7. I've googled around and haven't seen anything. I'm guessing they were just proposing hypotheticals.

I would be as happy to get Trae as I would be to get Luka. Trae is the best shooter in this draft--by far (see the tweet recently about only getting 19 uncontested threes this year and making 14 of them), and he is an incredible distributor. And while his defense is criticized, he will be able to do a better job on opposing pg's than Luka.
Don't get me wrong. I would love Luka as well. I just think Trae is underrated. Maybe instead of comparing him with Luka, we should compare him with Steve Nash. He is as fast as Steve. He passes like Steve. He shoots like Steve. He is probably a better defender than Steve.
