The Clippers have tried to plot a course that could push them toward a better position in Thursday’s NBA draft.

They have offered their own lottery picks, the 12th and 13th selections, to make a deal to move up, according to NBA executives not authorized to speak publicly on the matter and media reports. So far they have been rebuffed in their attempts to procure a deal for a top-five pick with the Sacramento Kings (who pick second), Atlanta Hawks (third), Memphis Grizzlies (fourth) and Dallas Mavericks (fifth).

The Clippers will continue to do their due diligence and talk with teams ahead of them in the draft with the hopes of getting a high enough pick to select European star Luka Doncic, according to the executives.

Looks like the Clippers aren't having much luck moving into the top 5 with 12/13 and filling pieces

I mean besides those picks, what assets do they have that another team find desirable. Austin Rivers ...yeah not so much. DeAndre Jordan.. not appealing to a rebuilding team. Harris...yeah probably as much an asset as Chriss. I’m not surprised no team is excited about the clippers trade packages, the Clippers have no elite talent or young build on worthy players.
I am such a lucky NBA fan. 8647 My favorite team went from the most greedy and racist owner to the most ego driven dumbass owner in all of sports fdt.

Does anyone remember former pick 7 Anthony randolph. The wet dream of so many RealGm users. Actually playing with Doncic.

Why is Trae falling? Bad workouts?

I wonder if we were ever able to see him.

If we trade up to 8/9/10 and we have a choice between Trae or MP, who do you choose? :o

Id love to have Young and Ayton but I wonder why they say hes falling?

Is it because hes done poorly at workouts or something?

And whats the definition of falling? I have him going top 10.

Are they saying he is going to fall beyond that?

I've always been hoping either he or Smith fell to 16, but there are a ton of rumors of teams trying to trade into the top 10 for SGA, and he hasn't worked out for a single team, so many are assuming he has a promise. I think we might see something wild where Charlotte or maybe even Orlando is going to take him if Toronto can't get back into the top 10 for him.

I like him a lot, but prefer Trae Young if we are trading up for a PG, and the latest reports are of him falling. If we could get to 8 we might have a shot.

I was wondering the same thing.
Probably his lack of defense. If we nab him, our defense will be atrocious. I'd still take a chance on him though. Even if he winds up as just a spot shooter, we would have improved.

Like me some Okobo at 16 if they go PG there, if they go for a wing I like (hope) one of the Bridges' or SGA somehow slips. I don't mind Troy Brown or Keita Bates-Diop but 16 is too early for both obviously.

Wouldn't be anti Okogie at 31 either to be honest. I'm just not sold on Zhaire Smith. I remember thinking Peyton Siva and Guillermo Diaz (waaaay back in the day) were these can't miss athletes but they just couldn't shoot. Smith feels like that sort of guy. And everyone knows my love for KJ McDaniels - another uber athlete who just couldn't shoot...
For all the talk that shooting ia fixable, a lot of bad shooters never even become average.

Very true, but some also become great in 1 season (Tatum, Hield in college, Gasol from 3, Frye from 3, etc.). My thing with Smith though is he is not a persay bad shooter. He has a slow release, but he hits at a high rate and the rotation and touch are there. There is a difference. Slow releases are a problem, but since we are only going to ask him to shoot wide open jumpers because he isn't going to be a focal point of our offense, it isn't a huge issue in the short-term, and quickening a release by removing wasted downward motion on the catch is a much easier fix than reinventing a jumper.

And I mean truthfully if you had a defender this good who had a great jumper he wouldn't be available at 16. He'd be at or ahead of Bridges in the top 10 range. His slow release is the only reason we may have a shot at him at 16, and many draft people rank him top 12 in this draft, so there is value if he slips to us.

If he is, there are likely a number of reasons. There are a lot of really good players in the draft, and the teams that do like him may be worried about the risks of his lack of size, defense, etc...and then Orlando's FO has always been said to value length and defense...drafted Giannis, Thon, Jonathan Isaac. I've always wondered if they'd really take him even though they need a PG. So if a team likes Shai better for length and defense, Trae falls. What would be really interesting is if someone took Sexton over Trae. Then he could start to tumble to the bottom of the lottery.

But really, he could go anywhere from like 3-early teens.

Another "red flag"?

I don't see a problem with a dude who's looking to not only better his own life, but the lives of people back in the Bahamas, to say getting his second NBA contract is his barometer for success. But if he said "get more rings than Jordan" people would be saying that he's arrogant. Whatever.

That's not a good answer. At all.

He is doing a good job trying to be an Oden/Bynum/Sanders kinda guy.

i would choose Trae. I have them 3 and 4 on my big board though, but I guess it would partly depend on MP's health. I am not a doctor and don't know what it says.

I think people are just scared of his lack of traditional athleticism, but there are more aspects to athleticism than what we tend to look at. Balance, coordination, etc. are all a part of it. Young is the best shooter and passer in this draft. For those who want a pass first PG, he should be your guy. He can make every type of pass with both hands. His off-hand passing imo would be elite in the NBA right now. And while some question his ability against great athletes, well, Nash fit a similar profile in being athletic in ways we don't typically measure.

His shooting is so dangerous off the ball too that he would help our other guys a ton, and thanks to Booker and Jackson and even Bender, we can help Young out by allowing him to work off the ball to get easier shots. At OU he was forced to take very difficult shots due to lack of spacing and being double/triple deamed after the first 15 games of the year (sound familiar? because that hurt Booker's efficiency the last 2 years too).

I would trade a huge amount to move up for Young or Doncic, regardless of if it's pick 8 or wherever. But I am likely higher on Young than most. I think he will be an offensive dynamo really quickly.

One time my toilet broke and couldn't get it repaired for 3 days.

So I pooped in bags for 3 days and took it out to the dumpster after each one.

Who knows how intelligent he is.

If the question was asked here...or asked to me what I would consider success in the NBA for Ayton, never in a million years would I have said "making it to his second contract". I can't imagine others would either. He will already be a multi millionaire tomorrow, and probably already is considering his PUMA deal.

Yeah im a huge ayton fan but something like, "making the all-star game" or "MVP" or even something smaller like "ROTY"..."Winning the first title for the suns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" sounds alot better than that.

But If we drafted people on what they say than Zhaire Smith would be working at a car wash.

And that shows IMO that he has a creative mind.

Seriously, I value his talk on a positive way because I find him out of the box and smart.
